Summary

The highly anticipated new thriller in Caroline Kepnes's hit You series, now a blockbuster Netflix show.

Joe Goldberg is back. And he's going to start a family–even if it kills him....

Joe Goldberg is done with cities, done with the muck and the posers, done with Love. Now, he's saying hello to nature, to simple pleasures on a cosy island in the Pacific Northwest. For the first time in a long time, he can just breathe.

He gets a job at the local library—he does know a thing or two about books—and that's where he meets her: Mary Kay DiMarco. Librarian. Joe won't meddle, he will not obsess. He'll win her the old fashioned way...by providing a shoulder to cry on, a helping hand. Over time, they'll both heal their wounds and begin their happily-ever-after in this sleepy town.

The trouble is...Mary Kay already has a life. She's a mother. She's a friend. She's...busy.

True love can only triumph if both people are willing to make room for the real thing. Joe cleared his decks. He's ready. And hopefully, with his encouragement and undying support, Mary Kay will do the right thing and make room for him.

Critic reviews

"Crazy, sexy, cool: Caroline Kepnes gets better - and Joe Goldberg gets worse - with every book" (Erin Kelly)

"An utterly unique character and an utterly unique writer, in a marriage made somewhere between heaven and hell." (Richard Osman)

Enough Joe stories now

It's a shame because the first book was so good! and the second was good. But this one? nothing really happens! It's a very long winded story that should have been told in half the time. I did enjoy the fact that Joe doesn't actually kill anyone in this book though.

I do hope there is not a 4th book...

Netflix have totally changed this wonderful story

Best narrator of an audible novel so far. The voice fits the character.
Well paced.
Wish Netflix hadn’t changed the story so completely to sensationalise it.
This story is much kinder, more in pace with the ‘love’ we grow to feel for Joe.

I just wish the puzzle of Milanders (?) death was revealed! Did she kill herself? Did Oliver kill her? Is she truly dead?? Why would Nomi say she had heard from her?

Give the award to both of them!

Oh I love Caroline Kepnes and Santino Fontana. No one could write Joe better and no one could perform him better either. I did not want to start this book, the latest in the You series, as I knew that with every beginning there must be an end and I couldn't bear the thought of finishing it. Once I gave in, though, I devoured it. Fabulous characters, flawed, funny and frightening; a twisting, tenacious plot; laugh out loud soundbites from our antihero; a brilliant 'spot the musical reference' theme; so many literary references, meaning my future reading list has increased exponentially. This was soooo good. And Santino...give that man an award for the best narration of an audiobook ever.

What else would you want from a book?

Darkly funny. Joe, our favourite stalker, sets his eyes on a librarian. His wonderfully warped mind leads to the deaths and poor excuses we're now used to. So great, Not a novelisation of the TV series, well worth reading in itself. The narrator is perfect.
