In James chapter 1 verses 9 thru 11, Dr. Mitchell cautions us to keep our eyes on the savior rather than on riches. This passage promises the crown of life to the one who endures the test. God has promised it to those who love Him.

Dr. Mitchell shares with us what this scripture says concerning trials, and wisdom, here in James chapter 1 verses 3 thru 8.

As James was writing to Jewish believers in Christ, who were dispersed abroad around the Roman empire, he was aware of their trials. He writes of the necessity of allowing patience and endurance to have their complete work in our lives.

Dr. Mitchell points us to Christ both as an example and as the power for enduring any trial. Wisdom is oftentimes needed during these times. Let's ask God for it in faith.

  • Epistle of James 1:1-2 - Joy in Trials With Wisdom Provided - Prog 02
    Oct 1 2024

James is presented in the New Testament, along with Hebrews, 1st and 2nd Peter, and Jude, as epistles written to Jewish believers in Christ. As such it is not directly addressed to churches or to individuals as Paul does.

Here James addresses these brothers and believers with an exhortation to count it all joy under trials. These were undergoing trials of various kinds. As we shall see later, these trials were happening among the poor and the rich, those who were of high position and of those where were of low position.

  • Epistle of Hebrews 13:17-25 - Love Obeys, Love Submits, Love Intercedes. May the God of Peace Equip You in Every Good Work to Do His Will. Grace Be with You All - Prog 75
    Sep 27 2024

In Hebrews 13:17, We are exhorted to obey our leaders who spoke the word of God to us. They guide and equip the saints for ministry. And they, too, will give an account to God for their ministry.

The author of Hebrews then points the reader and listener to the God of Peace. He declares that the God of Peace brought up from the dead, that Great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the everlasting covenant, Jesus Christ our Lord. Jesus is resurrected and is alive even now!

Does this not remind us of how God answered Jesus' prayer in Heb. 5:7. The God of peace did just what for our Lord Jesus Christ prayed by raising Him from out of the dead. He will do so for us as well who believe and trust in Him alone.

Let's open our Bible to Hebrews 13:17 as we conclude the book of Hebrews with Dr. Mitchell on the Unchanging Word Bible broadcast.
