A Rhythmical Historical Treatise on Nigeria

Totally mind blown by the depth of research and POV. Rivetting and educational. Explains factually the origin story of the fabricated nation of Nigeria. It shares the biased and ruthless motivations of the 'founding fathers' as well as the carefully orchestrated dysfunction that has remained a constant in the lives of Nigerians.

Excellent and much needed

Great detail of events from the colonization of Nigeria. Very relevant in giving the more realistic picture of what happened then towards an understanding of what is happening now. It finally makes so much sense. Thank you Dele Ogun for your work on this book and for your narration

Comprehensive Nigerian history

this book is about equivalent 5 books by different authors on the same topic. it is the comprehensive account of Nigerian history from pre colonial societies until present day Nigerian. it is a daring book that draws equivalence between events in Nigeria with the political climate in the west in a way I have not seen any other book do. A definite MUST READ, the secret is out and is spelt out for all of us to see.

A Fatherless people

Fatherless people is a brilliant balanced narrative of a forced Union of the Nigerian people. The writer has done a great job in relating the story to the current reality.

This book is a must read for anyone who wants to understand Nigeria

We need to organise a massive fundraising event to ensure that this book is given to every single Nigerian student. It also needs to be interpreted into as many Nigerian languages as possible.

A riveting narrative

Intelligent, fact-based and disturbing...

A fascinating , fact-based narration of how Nigeria came to be. What is really compelling about this account amongst others, is the contextualization amidst other global events that shaped events before British colonization, during British colonization and after Nigerian independence. This book sits nicely with the conclusions made in the 'Silk Roads' by Peter Francopan and 'Why Nations Fail' by Acemoglu, stressing that colonial Britain cared more about her own interests rather than the interests and peculiarities of the regions they conquered. Lord Lugard and subsequent Governor Generals, did a great dis-service to Nigerians that still plagues the nation till today. They are long gone, but their actions have resulted in the deaths of thousands, entrenched corruption, ravaging poverty and terrorism. This book identifies the root cause of our current problems, it is sad, truly a missed opportunity. Every Nigerian should have a copy and hopefully we can agree to redress the evil actions of colonial Britain.

A Superb Depiction of Nigerian History

Ive just completed Fatherless after a 7 day binge and I’ve been left longing for more. Dele Ogun’s research has so much depth that this work cannot be read just once. There are so many intriguing characters and events behind the formation of Nigeria today that the book has separate books hidden within it. What an exceptional piece of work. A starting point for anyone interested in knowing the history of the embattled nation.
