Summary
Lilou Adler is a student at the Bastan college for applied physics: a magic school focused on training adult witches and warlocks to become enforcers. As an enforcer-in-training, she is one of the many tasked with keeping each generation of fairy tale creatures on track with their fates.
There are just a few problems:
- Being tasked with the all-important "Cinderella" tale as her first assignment had to be a clerical error.
- Prince Charming is too busy chasing fairy "tail" to settle down.
- Cinderella has sticky fingers and boundary issues.
- A certain someone is hell-bent on taking her out of commission, but not even the high warlock of Bastan can stop this witch when she gets started.
Arlo Demarcus is the high warlock of Bastan and it’s his job to investigate magical crimes and to enforce magical law. It’s also his job to protect the next target in a string of magical murders: Lilou Adler.
There are just a few problems:
- Lilou being tasked with the all-important "Cinderella" tale as her first assignment had to be a joke.
- A certain someone is hell-bent on making his job a living hell, but there’s no way a twenty-something Enforcer-in-training is going to stop this warlock when he gets started.
This is a full, stand-alone novel. It is book number one of the Bastan Hollow Saga, but each book can be listened to as a stand-alone.

🎧Reviewed for Audiobook Obsession 🎧
This was definitely a new take on a beloved fairytale, where talking statues are the norm, a fairy, and goblins help the heroine with a daunting task she is assigned to perform.
Lindsey & Lance do an excellent job narrating this hilarious adventure.

Unique and fun PNR
I loved Lilo and the entire cast of characters. This was a story full of hilarity, murder, mystery, and magic. Looking forward to the next book in this series.

Very funny characters
This book is very entertaining, it has good strong funny characters, a storyline that will keep you gripped and the narration is fantastic.

Inventive and fun with great narration
I started laughing almost immediately from the beginning of the story. There is such fun banter and the characters are hilarious. I feel like the author had a lot of fun writing to this story and the narrators had fun reading the story. It’s an imaginative look at fairy tales- focusing on all the “work” it takes to enforce the HEA for the fairy tales (so the world doesn’t come to an end, apparently!). Lilou is the witch charged with protecting the Cinderella tale. Arlo is the warlock charged with protecting Lilou. There's a bit of a mystery (who is hunting Lilou?) and while the romance is secondary, it works so well within the story. The supportive cast (especially the “statue” Lucifer) are just perfect the complement the wackiness.
I really liked this book from the first page. It was too much fun and so imaginative.
Both Lindsey Dorcus and Lance Rasmussen were great. They both infused humor into their voices. They did a fantastic job modulating their voices and introducing accents so that they were able to play multiple characters. Their narration complemented the story so well that it only added to the enjoyment.

Amazing and funny
I could stop laughing, this was such an enjoyable experience. This book was a great adventure with so many great characters they never seem to amazed me on what they would do next. This is a must have book.

So much fun!!
This book was so much fun to listen to. The book was well written. The characters were lovable, somewhat relatable, and just so crazy. The narration complemented the book well and made for a highly entertaining read. Fabulous.

Enteraining must listen to
I am a Jane Washington novice, shes always recommended by one of my friends so when I got the chance to listen to this book I jumped at it. I was addicted from beginning to end with the brilliant storyline and narration. The storyline has so much going on and you never want to stop listening as you are waiting to see what would happen next.
Jane has brought us great characters that entertain and endear themselves to us and the these two narrators did such an amazing job bringing them to life. I honestly think I could listen to Lance Rasmussen read anything!
I cant wait to see what happens with this series next.

Amazing!
Absolutely loved it! The heroine is awesome and I love her sense of humor/snark. The H/h are so cute together and the side characters make this audiobook even more fantastic. There is so much humor throughout. Everything is unique and unforgettable. Can't wait for more! The narrators did a fantastic job bringing the characters to life with distinctive voices and lots of passion.

some good points some bad points
so this book is super funny, I laughed a lot, however for me personally I found that too much information was given all at once, I prefer it to be spread out over more chapters. The narrator's were good. I would say to give the book a go the humor in it is worth it. audiobook obsessions reviewer
