Summary

The start of an epic LitRPG fantasy adventure....

There's a game played between gods where the playing field is the world itself and the pieces, living beings. A young man is caught unwittingly between, in a strange world, without allies or help, and must battle for survival using his wits and magic alone.

Pawn or player...his fate is his to decide.... Which will he prove to be?

Accidentally summoned from Earth to the world of Myelad, Kyran becomes embroiled in an eons-old war between the gods. Earning their ire, he is sentenced to die. To escape the gods' trap, Kyran must become a player in their game that even the gods would learn to fear....

For those who enjoy epic tales of fantasy, this is the story of Kyran Seversan, a young man from Earth, stranded in another world where magic not only exists, but is part of an elaborate game between immortals.

Enter the world of Myelad and join Kyran on his epic journey!

A LitRPG novel.

Dull and annoying

So, as I leave this review while deciding not to finish this book any time soon, it is three and three quarters of an hour into an 11 hour book, chapter 14, and the protagonist has just now left the character creation stage and entered the rpg part.
14 chapters into a LitRPG book and the main character spawns into the game.
And is confused by it being dark, despite being told and planning for, spawning into a pitch dark underground cave system. And forgets and is surprised by magic working in the game, despite talking at length with gods while being a bodiless ghost, then magic working and picking and applying magic skills… And he forgets magic exists within seconds of going through a magic portal, and whoops it up at the surprise of magic being a thing.
The constant whining and demanding and demands from the main character, to a god who is literally explaining the situation, might be an excuse to cram in 6 times the exposition, but it makes the protagonist seem like a whiny, stupid prick who needs a good hard punch in the face.
Mentally shouting at the main chatter to shut his stupid mouth for a minute and wanting to slap him sensible while absolutely nothing happens for nearly 4 hours does not make for a good time.
Maybe I’ll finish it eventually because an unfinished title will nag at me, but I am not enjoying it and won’t be getting a sequel, because it sucks.
Also the voice acting is sub-par, and needs to use effects and reverb for some characters, I assume because he doesn’t have the range to do multiple distinct voices/personalities.
