Summary

The Sunday Times top 10 best seller

A heartbreaking memoir from a girl who escaped county line trafficking only to become prey to other abusers....

Emily has always felt like an outsider, so when a family friend takes her under his wing she is delighted. But soon it becomes clear that his motives are not all they seem. At the age of 11, Emily is groomed into being a ‘county lines’ drug trafficker. It is the beginning of a vicious cycle that sees her become prey to one abuser after another, involving a huge child-sex-trafficking gang.

The scale of the abuse—at the hands of hundreds of men—is sickening, and at times it feels like there will never be an escape. But then, in the darkest of moments, a ray of light shines....

This is the moving true story of how one girl overcame her traumatic past and learned to love for the very first time.

Good book with a horrible story

I could not put the book down but felt terrible listening to this young girls story. I wish the writer a peaceful future life and to enjoy her own child. This book has truly opened my eyes to troubled children and adults, may be look to help than to offend with horrible comments. We live so close to wales and know of drug problems locally, but not aware of slavery (or are we??). Worth a read but you will never look at anyone the same after.
I would recommend this book to every bookclub as the more everyone understands, the more this can be talked about.

Amazing, empowering story

This was a very hard to listen to story, at times I didn't think I could continue it due to the harrowing accounts of Emily's experiences. But I did as I knew how hard it must've been for Emily to relive it all.
What a brave, courageous individual Emily is and it was remarkable that Emily made a decision to put her baby first, once she knew she was pregnant.
Even suffering from PTSD she became an amazing mother & role model and continues to fight for support & justice for others. You are an amazing lady Emily, be proud of ypur achievements.

Poor read

Story was very monotonous, and very boring hearing the same thing every chapter. On a plus note - the narrator was excellent.

Disturbing and shocking

I only got half way through this book. The detailed stories of child sex abuse made me feel sick. Grown married men actually engaging in sex acts with underage girls is just vile and disgusting. This is a shocking story that no girl should go through, but unfortunately a majority of married, single adult men seeking out underage girls for their own sexual needs. Especially the Pakistani men as the story emphasis. These men need to be castrated and locked away, but never will as they keep getting away with it. Vile disgusting creatures.

Shocking content but boringly delivered

Although I have great sympathy for what the author endured and am disgusted at those who took advantage of her this production is boring and sounds like a comic Welsh accented person whinging on and on and on. Needs a better narrator and a rethink on how this experience could be better presented.

Repetitive dribble

You feel sorry for the girl at the start but then she goes on and on. At one point she is in the army barracks where there is soldier who is Portuguese and speaks no English; the British Army do not recruit Portuguese people and everyone in the British Army speaks at least some English. So the story is certainly not true.
