About this listen
Invited to a Private View of the work of controversial artist Denzil Willoughby, the good citizens of Fethering are not quite sure what to expect. And it certainly turns out to be a lively affair, culminating in a confrontation between Willoughby and his ex-lover, followed by a heated argument with the gallery owner and a rival artist. But what no one could have anticipated was that the evening would end in sudden, violent death. While the police seem happy to accept an official verdict of suicide, Fethering residents Carole and Jude remain unconvinced. Deciding to investigate further, Carole and Jude soon discover that the answers lead only to more questions – and that at least one Fethering resident has a dark secret to hide.

Usual good escapist fun
What made the experience of listening to Guns in the Gallery the most enjoyable?
As ever I really enjoyed Simon Brett's delivery and the light story line, which bubbles along and keeps you intrigued. I listen to my audiobooks snuggle in bed, lights off, as I like to fall asleep listening, and this author is brilliant, the stories move along rapidly, and the voice and characterisation is excellent.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I find Jude the most pleasant character of the two women detectives is , Carole is a buttoned up, prissy person, but the contrast between the two is really enjoyable.
Have you listened to any of Simon Brett’s other performances? How does this one compare?
I have listened to many of Simon Brett's performances and they are always excellent
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, I like to take my time, half an hour every evening is fine, maybe a little more listening if ironing or having a bath.
Any additional comments?
I fear I may be getting to the end of Feathering stories, just wish he would write some more, though I cannot really see how one small seaside town can be so awash with villains. I prefer the Feathering stories to the Charles Paris ones as i find stories about theatre people a bit tedious

Good, but depressing!
Good but not as good as usual. There isn't a definite murder until a long way through and the grief depicted gets a bit harrowing for a 'cozy' murder mystery.

More please!
Have read all the Fethering mysteries but this is my favourite so far. Made all the better by an excellent narration by Simon Brett himself! A perfect audio book experience and here's hoping Simon narrates the next one himself too.

Another brilliant listen
I love this series . On the face of it , bright breezy easy read mysteries . Delve a little deeper to find expertly drawn characters with depths and recognizable traits that make you feel so part of the plot that you find yourself thinking “I know what Carol Seddon” will think about that . hugely entertaining and brilliantly narrated.

Love this series
Another great instalment following Jude snd Carol as they solve a murder. As always a cast of wonderful characters. Written with humour with suspense. The author narrates and does a great job too.

Another winner
I love these books and having them read by the author is brilliant. Very easy to listen to and enjoyable to try and work out ‘whodunnit’. Looking forward to the next in the series.
