About this listen
When the city suffers, everyone suffers.
Steven Hines listened to the city, and the city spoke. Cleveport told him she was sick. With his unnatural connection to her, that meant Hines was sick, too. But when his friend Detective Abby Jones comes to him for help investigating a series of deaths with no discernible cause, Hines can’t say no. Then strange fungal growths begin to appear in the streets, affecting anyone who gets too close, turning them into violent lunatics.
As the mayhem escalates and officials start to seal Cleveport off from the rest of the world, Hines knows the trouble has only just begun.

Good stuff
I'll be honest here and admit that I'm a massive zombie fan and a big Alan Baxter fan so I may be a tad biased but this book is pretty awesome. Enjoyed every minute.
I very much recommend this book.

High quality urban fantasy horror!
I rarely read urban fantasy, but if Alan Baxter writes it, I am more inclined to do so!
This was a top tier urban fantasy/horror tale with a troubled magical PI dealing with terror that threatens his beloved city.
Some interesting magic ideas in this tale and some disturbing viral fungal horror.
Narration was good, could have done with some more variation on the different female voices.

Alan baxter has knocked it out the park once again
Alan baxter Hss crafted another amazingly exciting and stylishly creative story once again his blend of magic and grit is very much the same as his normal magic based novels this is very similar to the alex cain trilogy but only with hints of that style tbis is very much a new story and i wish he will be making a follow up to this book very strong characters with deeo personality's and real diversity to there lifes and agendas very very much loved this as always alan baxter has crafted gold again

Excellent fast paced story
Format: audiobook
Narrator: Johnathon Waters
What an unusual storyline, the city is alive in a sentient way and Steven Hines has an unusual connection to ‘her’ making him the only person who can stop the threat that could tear Cleveport down, he’ll need help though and so unusual alliances are made to help halt the devastation before it spreads.
Great narration helps bring the story to life and that’s exactly what this narrator did.

Pleasantly surprised
I don’t read a lot of urban fantasy but this was definitely one of the better ones
I thought this had great characters in a gritty setting that really helped draw me in
The narrator does a great job with the multiple characters
This fits into a number of genres and would appeal to numerous readers
