Summary

Summoned to another world to slay the mighty beast . . . of governance! (And soon to be an anime!)

When Kazuya Souma is unexpectedly transported to another world, he knows the people expect a hero. But Souma's idea of heroism is more practical than most—he wants to rebuild the flagging economy of the new land he's found himself in! Betrothed to the princess and abruptly planted on the throne, this realist hero must gather talented people to help him get the country back on its feet—not through war, or adventure, but with administrative reform!

A perfect example of Isekai done right

Isekai as a genra is a difficult one to get right. Far to often, it relies on making the MC far to powerful and, while that can be very fun, it also means that the genra often fails to create compelling stories.

This is a good example of the genra done right. I am of the opinion that, if you want to do a good Isekai, you have to do something different. Sure, an adventure story can be fun, but Isekai isnt really a genra on its own. You can combine it with basically anything else. This does just that by having it be a kingdom building story. The characters here are fun and its littered with fun historical notes and, as an added bonus, Dojyomaru clearly knows what hes talking about when it comes to political theories.

I do have one minor issue with it and thats the reader. On the whole, hes fine, does the job well and is clearly understandable and all that good stuff, but he also lacks the...energy I've heard in other Light Novel adaptations. Plus, his voices for the female characters are a bit...samey. It would have been nice to have two readers and possibly a bit more energy, but thats a minor quibble in all honesty.

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
