Summary

For 12 years, the virtual world of Yggdrasil has served as the playground and battlefield for the skeletal lord Momonga and his guild of fellow monsters, Ainz Ooal Gown. But the guild's glory days are over, and the game is shutting down permanently. When Momonga logs in one last time just to be there when the servers go dark, something happens - and suddenly, fantasy is reality. A rogues' gallery of fanatically devoted NPCs is ready to obey his every order, but the world Momonga now inhabits is not the one he remembers. The game may be over, but the epic tale of Ainz Ooal Gown is only beginning....

Love the Momonga Voice

An awesome book and a great job overall with narration, but the narrator needs to branch out a bit. some of the voices were rather similar.

a long wait but the narrator disappointed

the narrator needs to use different voices for other characters, it become impossible to tell which character is talking when there's a back and forth between Ainz and Gazef.

Finally

After reading the ln, I'm happy that it exists in this form.
I can listen to it during work or driving. Would recommend even if you read the lns.

Overlord is Pretty Good

As a fan of fantasy novels, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I believe that, despite the lack of content in this edition, there will be more in the following books, and it contains fantastic political detail in comparison to some other novels I can think of. The Magic, while simple, is done well, and the book does a good job of describing the characters to provide an in-depth description. While the story may be slow at times, it makes up for it in sheer quality and detail.

The narrator, on the other hand, is a fantastic, trained, and possibly one of the best choices for this book, as the original English Dubbed voice actor for the Anime TV Show. He perfectly voices Ainz, but every now and then I get confused about who is Ainz and who just has a deep/old voice. However, the minor flaw has no bearing on Chris's overall performance.

Great but some translation errors

All is great except these errors that given the time passed since the book translation should have been fixed already:

Chapter 2:
It still says in some parts that Bukubuku Chagama (Bubbling Teapot) and Peroroncino are sisters.

Chapter 5:
They talk about "monsters that could break a country called Nation Breakers". When in reality they are talking about Landfall (or Nation Breaker), a single being.

That said, I really liked it and I'm looking forward volume 2.

A GREAT start to the series!

This has been an audiobook I have been anticipating for a very long time. The wait has been very much worth it!! when I first listened to the audiobook at work I was so very well hooked by Chris's performance that I got halfway through the book before I had even realized it! Of course, I can't give Chris's performance enough praise! With him being the dubbed voice of Ainz in the anime, just hearing him read the lines from the light novel was worth it! I can only hope and pray that we get an audiobook of the other volumes soon, and that Chris will continue to narrate!

Need all of them now

I need all of the volumes yesterday I am a great fan of the anime series and the only reason I didn’t sit down and read them normally because of my dyslexia I would’ve absolutely loved all 15 of these books to be on audible

It Is About Time.

I've been waiting for this audiobook. in my opinion, this is one of the best light novels you can buy. If you are an fan of the anime, this is the novel for you. The fact that Chris Guerrero is reading the book is awesome. You have Ainz Ooal Gown reading to you. For myself, it was a wonderful experience listening to this book. I can't wait for the rest of the audiobooks to drop.

Absolutely awesome!

Having Overlord being read by Ainz/Momonga himself is perfection! Chris Guerrero did a magnificent job! His Ainz sounded just like his anime dub performance and his different voices mirrored their dub versions too like Demiurges voice. I really hope the entire series is made into an audio book! Even though I've read these books before, I really enjoyed listening to them and it felt like a whole new experience. Chris Guerrero really gave it his all and I highly recommend this audio book!

Wonderful story great characters

loved the characters and story it dose overdescribe at parts which caused some parts to drag on far longer then they should have. I also could not stand the voice for Albedo and far to many characters sound identical to the main lead which caused some conversations to become confusing. Overall I really enjoyed my time with this book and I will be getting the next volume.

Horrible writing, mechanical story

The writing and the plot are atrocious, barely above "All your bases are belong to us".

The character personalities are no better than Marvel comics.

The entire book reads like a script from a game that got one of its developers write the story to save money.

I did give the book a chance, but couldn't get past chapter 4.

The MC needs to check if the game turned into a real world. How does he do it? By touching the boobs of an NPC to see if it feels realistic. Most scenes are more stupid than this.

On top of everything, the narrator makes every character cringy, and otherwise sounds like a machine reading due to a poor choice of intonation and stress.

And the translation is just about the worst I've seen in my life.
