Story
Do we own it? Being a woman that is. Do we f--k! We live in fear of how we look, what we eat, how we age and what we do. Wow, it's 2022 and we're still churning out that same old shit. I've been told as you get older you care less. F--king great. I can't wait to be menopausal with skunk-like grey track lines in my hair, saggier tits and miserable as shit. I don't know about you, but I'd quite like to have that experience—the no-f--ks-experience that is—now, before that all happens. To have the confidence to believe in who I am.

Her message is clear: not everyone is a perfect mum with a nice house, a steady marriage and 2.5 children. We lead messy, complicated lives. From best-selling author and massively popular blogger The Unmumsy Mum comes this hilarious, irreverent and searingly candid compendium of parenting experiences. With entries including D Is for Desperation, F Is for Fish Fingers, S Is for Supermum and V Is for Vagina, it's safe to say this is not your average A-Z. This book won't tell you what sort of parent you should (or shouldn't) be; instead, it offers a refreshingly honest account of what being a mum to three young children is really like and the surprising lessons that have been learned along the way.

Why Mummy Drinks is the brilliant novel from Gill Sims, the author of the online sensation Peter and Jane. It is Mummy's 39th birthday. She is staring down the barrel of a future of people asking if she wants to come to their advanced yoga classes and polite book clubs where everyone claims to be tiddly after a glass of Pinot Grigio and says things like 'oooh gosh, are you having another glass?'

Story
I'm Jen Brister, stand-up comedian, middle-aged adolescent and, more recently, a mum. But not that mum - I'm the other one. Confused? Let’s back up a bit. Two years ago, my partner (a woman - we're not solicitors) gave birth to twins. Like every new parent, I had absolutely no clue what I was doing. Add ‘gay’ and ‘non-biological’ to the mix and what do you get? Not a weird box of detergent, but a panicked beige lesbian desperately googling, ‘Will my babies love me?’ at 3 a.m. This is a book for any parent who feels they don’t fit the mould of a traditional 2.4 family.

Story
Motherhood is full of little highs: the smell of a newborn baby's head, the feeling of a small hand holding yours, the infectious sound of laughter, first words, first steps, the first day at school, endless tiny but significant hints of the person your child is to become. But motherhood is not without its lows either: tears and tantrums (your child's and your own), fears, self-doubt, sleepless nights, and that's not to mention the mum fails.

Beautiful & Heartfelt!
- By KateHenderson on 20-02-20
Summary
Brought to you by Penguin.
When does Mary Effing Poppins arrive?
Laura Belbin survived hitting her 30s (oh, to be wrinkle-free again), anxiety (just), motherhood (two adorable little shits) and the new body that went with it (a left tit that sags slightly more than the right, anyone?). In Knee Deep in Life she gives a fearless and filthy account of her transformation from no-responsibilities woman to being in demand 24/7, the heartaches and humiliations, and most importantly, her (definitely-pushed-to-the-limits-but-totally-indestructible) marriage to Steve, the man who helped her to hold it together when post-natal depression kicked in.
Full of heart and wit - not to mention swearing that would make a sailor blush - this is the beast of a book Laura intends on riding into the hands of those people who doubt themselves every single day: the ones who have struggled to accept the way they look, the mums-to-be about to find themselves taking their first step towards parenthood and the women bossing it like bad-asses every single day but never getting the credit they deserve. You are more than enough.

Not even finished the book yet and I've laughed and cried at the incredible way laura has told her story. An absolute must read for parents who think they are going it alone and feel its just them that deal with day to day bullshit of being a parent. There are many others that have told their story in this way but Laura just hits it in a different way.

If you only read one parenting book, it's this!
Anyone who wants to be a Mum, is pregnant or has a child or children NEEDS to listen to this book! This is real life! I was crying with laughter at Laura's descriptions and brutal honesty. Ah man there's so much people don't tell you about pregnancy, giving birth and your recovery after birth. Well Laura lays it all out for you here! So if you want to know what it's really like than you need to listen up!
This book is so relatable. It's so refreshing hearing someone say they struggle too. That parenting is really hard. That we are all just making it up as we go along and hoping for the best! We need more and more real people like Laura on social media, showing us what real parenting is like and what real woman look like.
Well done Laura, and thank you so much for this book and your wonderful Instagram. You're brilliant xo
