Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

Happiness comes in all shapes and sizes.

Jo said good-bye to peace and quiet when she got pregnant at 19, but now she has a chance to hit refresh. A partner she loves, five amazing kids and a house by the sea. But life is never simple and there is more than a little emotional baggage coming along for the ride.

Starting with that t--t of an ex-husband who doesn't pull his weight. Then there's the untrained puppy, the work/life balance, a custody battle for the children and all the everyday ups and downs and chaos of being a patchwork family.

Surrounded by family dramas and mums who seem to have all their sh*t together, Jo must find a way to make friends and make it work in this new town.

Barbecues on the beach and dog walks open up new conversations, but as Jo gets to know everyone better, the picture perfect families might be in need of more help than she first thought....

When normal is not an option, surprises can lead to a different kind of happy family.

Amazingly heartbreaking and heartwarming

What an amazing book, made even greater by being read by Rachaele herself! I would recommend it to anyone. The characters are so real and believable, 5 stars all the way.

A different kind of happy

This is Rachaele Hambletons first go at fictional writing and she has done quite well.
Have followed Rachaele as Part Time Working Mummy for years now and reading her first book A Patchwork Family thoroughly enjoyed it with insights into her real Patchwork Family...
This first novel follows Jo and her children blending together with her new partner after divorce and how becoming step parents feels and all the trials and tribulations that comes with having 5 kids and ex's and a untrainable dog !!
I liked this book, however it seemed a little of a re telling of Rachaeles actually life with her real family, kids and husband just with different names and events.
having said that, I did enjoy it and it was easy to listen to,
hopefully the next book won't be as autobiographical with more story telling .
