Summary
"So I thought I might take up paragliding. You know, buy one on eBay and just jump off the cliff one morning."
Emily Willows is middle-aged, widowed, wealthy, and bored. When she makes those flippant remarks to her son over coffee one Friday, she has no inkling that within a few hours she will be facing the most terrifying situation of her life. Nor could she have guessed that she will be confronting it with the enigmatic young woman who moved in next door a few months ago and who has hardly spoken a word to her since. And neither of them has realized yet that after this meeting, their lives will never be the same again.

The excellent Peter Grainger but let down by narration
Peter Grainger is an amazing writer and his stories never cease to engage and fascinate me about the police process and his credible characterisation. However… after listening to the wonderful Gildart Jackson for DC and Lakes stories I was so disappointed with this narration. It was unconvincing above all seemed to completely ignore the setting of the book… in Cornwall!!! Poor accents and engagement with the text. All the way through I kept thinking … I could do better! Such a shame.

Awful accents
Wonder if this book is set in the 1990’s
Weird for the crims to say “effing”
Set in Cornwall, but not a single character with a West Country accent

Good story Awful Accents
This was a bit different from the other Peter Grainger books I have listened to. I enjoyed it but the Cornish towns were wrongly pronounced and I'm not sure where the accents came from but nut the West Country. I tried to ignore it and just enjoyed the story

Pretty good
Peter Granger is a wonderful writer and this story is away from his other stories I've listened to by him . I enjoyed it very much but I can't say I'm keen on the reader. The tale is unusual in that it is very short and the length of the book is how long the incident takes to happen. I think there is another in the series so I'll be listening to that so I can't have been put off by the reader too much.

Old Mrs Willows
Loved the story of excitement & intrigue, accents in narration are a little off putting but didn’t detract from story. BUT…. what a disappointing end !! I hope there will be a follow up book.

Terrible narration
Such a shame that the reader only appears to be able to perform northern accents rather than the West Country ones required. Really spoils a good story. Definitely no Gildert Jackson!

The worst narrator ever!
I really wanted to like this as I’m already a fan of Peter Grainger’s books, but the narration is terrible! Flipping in and out of bad accents, like a bad pantomime. I really struggled to get to the end, which is a real shame as I’m sure the story would have been good if I’d made it to the finish line!

Great story, poor narration
Great story, twists and turns and great characters. Unfortunately, this author’s fantastic work was let down by the very poor narrator; terrible, laughable accents, quite a few northern bad accents considering it as set in Cornwall!
