Summary
"So I thought I might take up paragliding. You know, buy one on eBay and just jump off the cliff one morning."
Emily Willows is middle-aged, widowed, wealthy, and bored. When she makes those flippant remarks to her son over coffee one Friday, she has no inkling that within a few hours she will be facing the most terrifying situation of her life. Nor could she have guessed that she will be confronting it with the enigmatic young woman who moved in next door a few months ago and who has hardly spoken a word to her since. And neither of them has realized yet that after this meeting, their lives will never be the same again.

Not as good as hoped
Perhaps I am spoiled by the DC Smith series which I absolutely adore. All the excellent dialogue and small detail that Peter Grainger seems so good at was there but I found this book a little pointless. However the characters are interesting and I can't quite see how they will be kept together to form the basis of the next story (I see there is one). I shall probably download No. 2 to see how this is managed and to see of Peter Grainger manages to really capture my imagination again.

Couldn’t finish
The storyline was ok, a bit unclear as to what the heck was going on & also I couldn’t get past the narrator. Her voice just grated from the get go - too quickly spoken, strident and a lisp that didn’t help. It’s a shame as I have it a good few chapters but this one for me would have to be in book format to get through.

Intense and engaging
Really enjoyed the building of a relationship in this unusual story. The protective aspect of Lane for her neighbour is refreshing due to her female role as a hero,

The longest, slowest, high speed chase!
After other books by the same author I had high expectations of this. Such a perplexing story, simultaneously a lot and very little seemed to happen. The background characters were very difficult to keep track of. One of the main characters phones 999 twice in less than 24hrs yet the second time she seems to have forgotten doing so literally a few hours earlier. I don't think I could recommend this.

Terrible narrator
Terrible narrator ruins another series. Can’t do accents, grating, seems to struggle to read, questionable pronunciation. Why do they use her?

A long and winding road but great
I really enjoyed this book it held me from the first to the final page. The reader was good I didn’t even think about the male voices the story was so good. A brilliant first outing and I am looking forward to more

Fast Paced Book. Not great narration.
This is not the usual book I read, however this story sets off at a fast rate and continues to the end.
Unfortunately, if you are looking for accurate renditions of regional accents this is not the book for you.

Great story
Enjoyed this book and will read the sequels…lane is a force of nature and happy to hear more of her adventures! Some of the colloquial accents were a bit strange but didn’t detract too much from the storyline!

Pretty good
Peter Granger is a wonderful writer and this story is away from his other stories I've listened to by him . I enjoyed it very much but I can't say I'm keen on the reader. The tale is unusual in that it is very short and the length of the book is how long the incident takes to happen. I think there is another in the series so I'll be listening to that so I can't have been put off by the reader too much.
