Great Book
So, I bought this book on the strength of successfully giving up smoking through the Allen Carr Easyway seminar in London. I read a lot of reviews, mostly of people on the fence with regards to the same method applied to food.
For me the book was really good. Coincidently, I gave up eating meat and most dairy products about two weeks before reading the book so Allen's belief of abstaining from meat and dairy really rang true for me. The book confirms what most of us already know in terms of eating foods that are provided by nature in their most natural state. His method of helping the reader to understand the negative brainwashing we've all been susceptible to is enlightening.
I would recommend this book to people who are open to different ideas and approaches to food, as well as those who realise that what society has taught, us along with the big food giants is what contributes directly to our unhealthy issues with food.

Don't buy it if you ever had a biology lesson!
I don't know where to start. I appreciate the author's claimed results of helping millions to stop smoking, drinking, eating, etc. BUT this does not justify to write a book filled with complete and utter rubbish about how the digestive system works, how food is processed, why we gain weight. The two principles, "calories in calories out" and "only eat when hungry" make sense, but other than that, not much.
Some examples: describing chimpanzees as living on plants only, the nutritional values of water, especially "oxygenated", fat grows from the undigested leftovers in our intestines, that nobody has lactase enzyme once stopped breastfeeding, protein is digested by acid and carbohydrate by alkaline and if these mix they remain undigested.... countless statements with absolutely no research in physiology or biology. And this is the updated version! I am almost ashamed I bought it... shame because the principle of explaining to people how unhealthy junk food is is a good idea but the explanations are from a fairy tale.

Thought provoking, but no.
I loved that the smoking and drinking books helped my family, and thought this would be my own ‘Alan Carr epiphany’ for diet. However it borrows heavily from the smoking approach without really having the same underpinning carrot/stick framework. It’s pitched as ‘stop overeating’ rather than diet or weight loss and relies on convincing you that you like eating fruit and veg more than cake and chips. It also heavily supports vegetarianism as a possible solution (despite in the same breath claiming that it doesn’t - reverse psychology anyone?)
I’ve listened about six times and still don’t feel any different towards food and it’s actually made me want to eat meat more.
It could well be it needs longer, who knows. The hypnosis at the end is soothing and helps me fall asleep so that’s a bonus.

Logical, easy to follow and effective
I first listened to this book four days ago, but so far I feel excited and energised about the changes I am making in my life as a result of listening. I feel slimmer and my skin looks clearer. The audio format is ideal for this book, as I can listen again and again whilst doing other things and the information will hopefully stay fresh in my mind. Advertisers will do their best to chip away at my resolve. They will keep bombarding me wherever I go, to try and make me buy products which will make me fat and ill. My response is to try and reverse their brainwashing with this book, as often as I can.
Other reviewers who called this book a rant in favour of veganism are, in my opinion, blinkered. Just because you
have always lived your life a certain way does not make that the right way, especially if you are overweight and not happy about it. Some change will have to happen if we are to reverse the trend toward obesity caused by the western diet, and Allen Carr offers a very effective solution. He suggests cutting out meat and dairy for health reasons but if you are desperate to continue eating them then there is freedom to do that. The problem is people want to lose weight magically, whilst still continuing to do what they have always done. We know the way we eat is wrong because it's killing millions. This is a healthy alternative which, if you embrace it, will get you where you want to be and keep you there. Open your mind :-)

Not what it appears!
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
If you want to be educated about food and the downside of dairy and meat, then this is the book for you. What he means when he says you can eat as much of your favourite food as you like, is that you have to swap the foods that put weight on you for salads fruit etc. Had the title been,'swap your cakes for fruit and veggies', you wouldn't have bought it right?

Spoiler alert!
I'm afraid I'm really disappointed. Having been cured of my fear of flying by one of Allen Carrs books, I was really excited to try this one. Unfortunately at the beginning he tells you that you can eat as much of your favourite foods as you like....then brainwashes you into believing that fruit, vegetables, nuts and seeds are your favourite foods. It does have some very interesting facts about a number of subjects so wasn't a total write off but I'm afraid hasn't worked for me.

Reasons to be vegan?
The book encourages you to become a vegan, basically. It states that you can eat anything that your body wants and then explains how your body wants mostly fruits, vegetables and cereals. It is not restricting you in any way, but makes you think twice when putting a burger in your mouth. Be prepared to think totally different about food. I recommend it.

everything the world has forgotten
I used the stop smoking now book a little over a year ago and haven't picked up a cigarette or even wanted one since I finished it. I came to this book because I am a little overweight and want to be healthier I trust the author and after reading it I am not disappointed. I've been trusting my instincts for 3 days now and already feel a hundred percent better I know this method is going to work a hundred percent.

excellent narration
If you listen to this audio book with an open mind and let the author's messages sink in and resonate within your mind, you will start seeing food in a new way. In particular, you will have an appreciation for foods which you have taken for granted all your life, which taste great and are actually are good to your body in ways you don't realize. More importantly, you will recognize "junk" foods for what they are (mixtures of sugars, salt and chemicals designed by corporations to hook you and extract money from your wallet) and instantly and almost magically, their appeal will vaporize. This is one of those rare books that can truly change your life for the better if you give it a meaningful chance. I have listened to this book several times over the last month since I first acqired it and without any concious effort have lost over 15 lbs, have more energy and focus than I've had in years, and I do not feel starved or deprived. Even better, I have not felt the discomfort and shame from over stuffing myself with junk foods.

Incorrect and false information. Sorry I bought it
I think Allen Carr had a huge success with his book about quitting smoking and tried extending the information. The problem is that it's not extendable and the arguments in the book are mostly wrong and not scientifically proven.
The essential information is little but he extends it beyond limits repeating the same thing over and over again. The main ideas of the book are scientifically wrong . The arguments are false and incorrect. The information is distorted to prove his point which is wrong to begin with...
This book is a mess. It's not gonna help anyone lose anything but their time and money.

It works - easy enjoyable for life
I bought this book as an experiment. I was actually interested in whether or not Allen Carr’s easy way method of quitting drinking or smokimg could work for someone I loved. I dont smoke or drink alcohol so although his books on those topics made sense to me as i read them, I couldn’t test the method for myself. But most people could benefit by shedding a few pounds and most people also find that difficult to do. Having nothing to lose ( except for a few dollars and a few pounds ) I tried it. It was nothing short of amazing. It completely changed the way I look and think about eating. It has increased my enjoyment of eating a hundred fold . I’ve shed 8 pounds in about a months tlme, easily and without effort. I have more energy , and the fatigue ive felt the past 10 years that I’ve accounted to getting older has completely disappeared . (I turn 60 this month) The minute I finished the Book , i knew I would attain the way I want to look in clothes again without unsightly bulges and all while feeling perfectly content and sated , enjoying every meal and never feeling deprived or hungry. I love this book and recommend it to every one. Ive gone from 136 to 128 lbs since buying the book. I dont know what number the scales will stop at but I already love the results and know it’s destined to get even better .

Some reviewers missed the point
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
The book emphasized over and over to forget about dieting and will power -- approaches that seldom work permanently -- and that you don't have to give up any particular food.Recommended if you want to change your *habits* and forget dieting. It's for a gradual change in your thinking about food. One does need an open mind, as the author stresses, and he stresses not to take anything he says by faith. It does not preclude eating any specific food but emphasizes healthy foods that you like, and has bookoo valuable information about how to help your body rather than throw obstacles in the way of its healthy functioning.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I looked forward to listening while walking and bought the written version after finishing the audio book so I could easily look up ideas and reference information going forward.
Any additional comments?
I'm not sure I agree with every single logical point but overall I think it's sound thinking and I found it liberating.

Good reader great book
Allen Carr made me stop smoking and hopefully now lose some weight. His simple but uplifting words help remove your addiction to junk and bad food. The reader is also very good.

finally a real method or lifestyle that work. <br />
I have been looking for this for 40 yrs. listen to this audible book several occasions. I changed my way to see food and eat food. its works for me. I am slowly loosing weight.
