Summary

On a cold, dark February morning, Chris and Leah Hills stop for coffee at an isolated service station a stone’s throw from the Welsh Borders. While Leah heads inside, Chris locks the car and goes in to order their drinks.

She shouldn’t be long - after all, they’ve only stopped to stretch their legs.

Minutes pass. Chris waits and waits, but Leah doesn’t come back.

When Sergeant Mel Daley and her boss, Detective Inspector Harry Baker, arrive to begin a search for the missing woman, their investigation calls everything into question. Is she alive? Did she leave the service station with someone else? Did Leah ever even leave Norfolk?

While her husband becomes more frantic, the pair begin to unravel a tangle of dark secrets from the past.

Quite brilliant and gripping.

The first Audiobook that I have been unable to put down. I have listened to it every minute of the day, spellbound.
Everything about this book is superb - brilliant narration, the most gripping story, everything so cleverly described.
I feel a loss now I have finished it - but at least I can get on with my life again! The description of the cottage in Wales is vivid - it would make an amazing movie. Superb.

Fabulous

I started this book with a sense of trepidation, the reviews are mixed so I was not sure what I was letting myself in for, BUT, it is an amazing story, I thought I knew what was going on, changed my mind, then changed it again, definitely twisty, definitely entertaining and certainly worth the credit for the narrator alone, she is marvellous.

The characters in this book are all well drawn and engaging and the twist is pretty good I think.

I would certainly recommend this one and will be looking out for more thrillers by this author.

Brilliant!

This is a great read/listen. It had me gripped from beginning to end. I really never wanted to put in down and devoured it in quick time. It’s very well written, without a wasted word. The characters are richly drawn and the story, a corker! I would have liked a further few chapters to explore the issue raised at the end. Despite that, it’s a solid 5* read.
