Summary

Multi-award-winning television writer and producer Georgia Pritchett knows a thing or two about anxiety.

From worrying about the monsters under her bed as a child (Were they comfy enough?), to embracing womanhood (One way of knowing you have crossed from girlhood to womanhood is that men stop furtively masturbating at you from bushes and start shouting things at you from cars. It's a beautiful moment) to being offered free gifts after an award ceremony (It was an excruciating experience. Mortifying) worry has accompanied her at every turn.

This memoir is a joyful reflection on just how to live - and sometimes even thrive (sometimes not) - with anxiety.

A whim

I bought this book on a whim because it was on sale and I liked the sound of the title, I then listened to the book on a whim when I realised it was my only audiobook I had downloaded on a long car journey. Jesus christ, an exceptional book, it made me feel all sorts of emotions from happy to sad, it made me laugh and made me cry. Prior to listening to the book I was not aware of Georgia Pritchett (I have since done more research and watched some of the shows mentioned) I do believe the not knowing made the experience better in a way, I guess I learnt more. In a weird way its changed the way I look at life and I love it for this. I listened to some amazing audiobooks in 2021, but I think this one may have bettered them all. Absolutely mega.

Your Book is a Bit of a Gem

Georgia has a wonderful unique voice and an irrepressible wit. This made reading about dark moments, crippling anxiety and countless mishaps a joy and a privilege. Georgia has restored my faith in humanity and reassured me that there is hope for all of us quirky, flawed, impractical folk and just maybe it’ll all be ok somehow - loved this book ❤️

Highly recommend

I couldn’t stop listening to this and popped it on at every opportunity. Fortunately it’s format of short anecdotes lends itself to this style of listening- Intelligent, witty and poignant this account of episodes in Georgias life is a wonderful listen. So difficult when reading reviews to know if the reviewer has a similar to taste to you- Read the authors CV for an idea of her background writing abilities! I’ll be listening to it again, something I never do!

Buy it and buy it again for friends

I thought this was an anxiety self help book. It wasn't. It was Georgia's self help book - and I couldn't have been happier. I laughed, giggled and had an occasional sniffle. It's pure joy and I cannot recommend this highly enough. It's a delight.

What a talent

Dear Georgia
Thank you for sharing your experience of being a woman and a mother. It felt to me like you open your heart. It is painful and encouraging at the same time to read
the way you talk about your children, all four of them…. It made me realise what is important in my life.
Thank you for describing your fears so skilfully
It’s amazing that someone finally voiced what is going on in my head.
Thank you for shining a little light for hope.
