Summary

Random House presents the audiobook edition of One More Lie, by Amy Lloyd, read by Joe Gaminara and Tamaryn Payne.

How do you live with yourself as an adult when you were convicted of murder as a child?

And when you can't remember the crime....

How do you know you're guilty?

Charlotte wants a fresh start. She wants to forget her past, forget her crime - and, most of all, forget that one terrible moment.

It’s the reason she’s been given a new name, a new life. The reason she spent years in prison.

But even on the outside, with an ankle monitor and court-mandated therapy, she can’t escape the devastating memory of the night that turned her and her only friend into national hate figures.

But now her friend has found her.

And despite the lies she tells to survive, she soon finds herself being dragged deeper and deeper into a past she cannot confront.

Even if it’s going to cost Charlotte her life....

Great listen highly recommend

This was my second Amy Lloyd book and I enjoyed it just as much as The Innocent Wife. Both books are so totally different I wonder what direction her next book will take? I have read a few books recently about adults who committed awful crimes as children but this book was far superior. The story is well constructed and flips to past and present effortlessly gradually revealing some of the motivators to the original crime. There is a subtle twist which is very clever and really makes the listener examine childhood crime and what factors come together to drive children to do dreadful things. The narration was very good with both giving a great performance. I particularly liked the way in which Tamaryn subtly used different voices for her child and adult character. I am looking forward to Amy's next book.

So much emotion

I started reading this and I was instantly hooked, hooked by how she builds the story up. Then there was the clever twists and turns, in the end I have never experienced so much emotion as the book finally revealed the ending. She is a genius.

Nicely paced

Good premise for a story, I enjoyed this. Well paced, an easy listen. I would recommend.

What should it be

I was really looking forward to Amy Lloyd’s 2nd book on audio. Loved her first book. I’m sorry this would be a great book and listen, if not for one thing. Life!! Too many true stories mixed into one book!! So originality would be better. If anyone listens or reads this book, the whole time you’ll be thinking, if from the UK of one or a lot of families. I’m sorry. I tried to separate and couldn’t. Maybe me the reader is getting it wrong

Better Performance Than Story

The book is well read, but I found it quite slow and it didn't blow me away.

It was ok!

Great beginning and then slightly slow towards the middle. Loved the lineage of now and then and found the narrator for the child’s voice very effective. I think I was waiting to be wowed but was just an OK from me 🙂

Quick paced. Kept me guessing. Great narrators

Enjoyed this book immensely. Great narration. The way it went between past and present added to the suspense and helped to keep it interesting. I wasn't able to guess the ending, which I often am. Great 2nd book from this author.
