Summary

For people who happen to be parents (or might be soon). Because for every turdy nappy you sadly deposit into a gag-reflex-inducing bin, there's a moment that's less sh*t around the corner.

This is not an audiobook that will help you grow (or raise) a human successfully. But this is a book that might, if you're not too emotionally battered - and can see through the permanent eye twitch - help you laugh a little more than you cry. But that's not guaranteed. Nothing is really guaranteed as a nurturer of the small people.

Here is one couple's take on the horrors and humour of modern parenting told from his side and hers: honest, sad and laugh-out-loud funny. From deciding to try for a baby to the harrowing realities of miscarrying, from pregnancy and labour to bringing baby home and trying to reconcile the old life with the new - this audiobook will speak to anyone with a small human of their own or hoping to take that fateful step.

Love it!

I love these two! And them narrating it themselves just adds so much to it. Thank you!

Crying with laugher, understanding and at times sadness

The most entertaining, brilliant, honest hilarious heartwarming and brave book ever!
You go through every emotion right along side Mother and Father Pukka... they make you feel like some of the best parenting mates that (if you are very lucky like me) you manage to make along the way on this crazy roller coaster ride of parenting!! Thank you! I can not stop recommending it!

Love love love

This book is great. No heard so many where the husband has Co written and found that such a nice way to do it. They’re both amazing writers and I really enjoyed this and their next book too

Good, honestly written story.

I have gone through tears of laughter from a witty story telling and the tears of sadness of real deep end, all in one afternoon. What else could you expect from a good story.

Great perspective.

Thinking about having children and this book has really helped with the process. It's rare to find this level of honesty about the realities. less of a guide- more of a preservative, which makes the fear go away and everything ok. Also very funny.

Stunningly honest, painfully heartbreaking, read it

What an incredibly honest book. Some really interesting and research based information, hilarious stories and things that all parents will be able to relate too.

Makes you feel like a normal parent rather than a shit one.

I was gutted when this book ended. Blood brilliant. Well done Pukkas.

Tears, laughter and comfort - everything we needed

This was the first parenting book my husband and I could relate to and work through beginning to end. Our baby girl is due later this year after a decade of it being just us. I can not recommend this book highly enough - and I am so thankful to have listened to it. It’s brought us comfort and helped us talk through this next chapter of our lives.

A Hard Listen at times but worth fighting through

I'm not saying that this is a hard book to listen to because of the readers, it's more the content. There is a big focus on losing children in the early weeks of pregnancy, as well as the life-altering joy they bring. It's worth listening to just to prepare yourself, and if you've had a tough time conceiving, just to know that there are others out there who suffer. Also, no offence, but Papa Pukka you are not the easiest person to listen to without the crazy voices I'm sorry to say.

Heartwarming, funny and unashamedly honest

Really enjoyed the switch between Anna and Matt’s point of view. Sad in places but hilarious in lots more, I would definitely recommend this to first time or any time parents.
