Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

The latest ancient epic in the new Athenian series from the best-selling author of Emperor and War of the Roses.

Two legendary battles. One fearless warrior....

Themistocles stands as an archon of Athens: the might of the city is his to command. Yet he is no nobleman, distrusted by many for his modest birthright.

For his presumption.

But those who stand against him cannot argue with two things: his victories as a warrior and the vast Persian force heading their way.

And so Themistocles must fight. To survive the game of politics, to make his name, he must prove himself again and again in battle. On the sea. On land. In the arena of public opinion.

His enemies are legion, his allies do not trust him and the Persians would corrupt him - but history belongs to the courageous....

Very enjoyable

I have loved stories of ancient Greece since discovering the unmatchable Mary Renault in my teens. I was thoroughly engrossed in this book, fast paced and very well read.

Loved this

The first book I bought on a daily deal on a whim and it BLEW ME AWAY!
This carried it on. Fast paced, exciting and narrated brilliantly.
Enjoyed it.

My only criticism is minor changes to names by the narrator from book 1 to 2, mainly Darius.

But nothing which will spoil your listen.

Conn Iggulden makes history fascinating

I love history and prefer it through novels.
Conn Iggulden has few equals to turn great times in history into even more captivating stories. Hard to put the book down.
I have learned more on Caesar and Gengis Khan thanks to him than through 12 years in school.
Cannot wait to read more.
