Summary

Roly Martinez checklist: EpiPens, burn ointment, and condoms. You gotta come prepared for hate sex.

Heath has every reason to hate me, and that only serves to fuel our explosive chemistry. Now that we live in the same city again, all I want to do is show this sexy bear of a man that I’m not the jerk he once knew. My career as a US Navy SEAL changed the course of my life, and I'm desperate for him to see the new me.

Unfortunately, my reconciliation efforts so far have ended in hospitalization, second-degree burns, and a broken towel rack.

Not my finest work.

Of course, if he finds out the details of the military operation that forever changed me, it might be game over.

I mean...can he forgive me if I can’t even forgive myself?

Shameless is post-military enemies-to-lovers MM romance set in a gym for combat vets. It features muscled twinks, beautifully bellied bears, and a four-year-old with a lisp.

Note: This book depicts military violence, but the HEA is guaranteed.

This is the third book in the Wrecked series. Several characters, including Roly, first appear in Scout and the Lavender Girl.

Love Roly

Ask me to rank my favourite Kelly Fox reads and you’d find this in my top three. Again John solo brought new feelings with his reading and again I was left with tears in my eyes wanting to cuddle Roly. That sweet sweet man. After an awful experience in the military, Roly promises to change his ways and bless his heart he did. However by trying to make things right with Heath things don’t always go to plan. This provides plenty of laughs.
Having read the two books before this, you see Roly but you don’t SEE Roly. The Roly underneath his helpful, funny, bear killer act. The vulnerable still healing Roly, the Roly so in love with his og bear crush that he’d do anything for him. This side is what made me fall hard for Him. Roly and Heath are definitely in my top ten all time favourite couples.

Kelly hit me in the feels with Rolys story and this was the book that gave her favourite author status. Roly and the wreaked crew will have a place in my heart forever.

A fantastic audio experience

The story :

This is a wonderfully narrated enemies to lovers story with two really likeable MCs. Roly and Heath knew each other in High School and they were far from friends. So much so that Heath still carries a grudge against Roly all these years later.
Roly is a ex Navy SEAL who suffered a life altering incident and is haunted by how his words have hurt people in the past.
There’s definitely chemistry between them but Heath really doesn’t want there to be. The spark is fuelled by hate and when it ignites the heat definitely rises.
When you include the comedy of errors when Roly attempts to make things right between them, the supportive but meddlesome friends, lots of feels and Heath finally seeing the real Roly, you are left with a romantic HEA and a very enjoyable listen.

The narration:

John Solo once again shines when narrating this series, he really fits the characters and makes them come alive. Each characters individual tone and cadence is differentiated throughout the whole book and John Solo’s performance makes for an wonderful listening experience.

Book almost a DNF to a fave - audio perfection

I hit 57% in this book and really wanted to DNF it, but had loved the first two books in the series so much and so decided to give the author the benefit of the doubt and finish it. Boy am I happy I did. First, let's talk about the DNF response. 1) I am not a fan of screwball comedy, and there was way too much of that for me early in the book. 2) For that first 57%, we are TOLD Roly is a changed man and he SAYS he is, but we don't SEE that on the page in the remarks he makes and the way he behaves that indicate he is still incredibly self-centered and thinks he is irresistable. 3) If you were that kid who didn't fit in in high school and were bullied because of it, it seemed completely unrealistic that Heath, who is still carrying around pain from that and has a daughter who is now being bullied for the same reason, would be so attracted to the person who bullied him.

Now, for what I loved in that first part. Evie. If you liked this woman in her own book and in the first two volumes of this series, you are going to love her here. She is Roly's truth teller and she pulls no punches. The faint hope that she might actually finally get through was the reason I kept going.

So, what happened after that first part that changed DNF to wow? Something happens with the group of men and women we have come to love in the first books vis a vis Roly and it finally became clear to me exactly why he was behaving the way he was. I realized I had been expecting one of those "love solves everything quickly" outcomes and that was no way going to be appropriate for him. My whole perspective on the relationship between Heath and Roly changed and watching them work through some really dark stuff as the book headed toward its end was amazing. Finally, I believed that these two would be good for each other and for Heath's girls.

Now for the performance. John Solo perfectly captured for me in his voice the parts of Roly's character the grated on me before the change. That's who Roly is there but knowing what was coming made the listening very interesting. You could hear Heath's pain and feel the raw emotions as he and Roly worked through the hard stuff. Thank you John Solo for my Evie here! She is divine!

Another great listen

Wanted to listen to Roly’s story since the first book and wow, it did not disappoint. Loved both Roly and Heath and their story together. Listened to it non-stop from beginning to end.

Solo brings Fox’s characters to life

I am definitely a Kelly Fox fan and I adored the Wrecked series when it came out in print. But the audio is even better. John Solo captures the essences of Heath and Roly (& Heath’s girls) and makes the story even more vibrant.

Roly and Heath’s enemies-to-lovers story is sweet and hot and satisfying and funny. The girls and the dogs round out their blended family amazingly.

With lots of drop-ins by other series faves, this instalment also serves to create a beautiful jumping off point for the spin-off series Wrecked: Guardians.

As amazing as expected

I read this series awhile back and hearing it performed by the incredibly talented John Solo is absolute perfection. Roly and Heath give us such honesty, heat and redemption that you can’t help but fall in love with both of them. One of my favorite series of all time - love it so much!
