"I WISH I COULD GIVE IT TEN STARS!"
What an absolutely PHENOMENAL book! How I wish I had had this landmark effort available to me back in the day when I was teaching my children to read, to spell, to rhyme, to sing! This was gifted to me by a friend, and I was glad to get it for the sake of my son and his one year old (and my grandson. May I show you some pictures?)
Jayne Beacon is an accomplished teacher and goes into wonderful detail on the many ways to prepare your child to read and to write. Replete with fun exercises and games for each developmental level, you'll know exactly what to do regardless of your child's age and level of comprehension. The accompanying PDF is VERY professionally laid out, with many QR codes to access things like Dolch Sight Words and other useful teaching tools. It's full of fun graphics and is a splendid supplement to the audiobook. Carole Graham Lehan is a wonderful narrator. Her voice is warm, engaging and very expressive, and she has a great singing voice too! In fact, after listening to her for nearly four hours (the time goes by too quickly), I was seriously considering asking her to be MY mommy!
Seriously though, whether you're a mom or a dad or a loving guardian, "Teaching Your Child to Read" is an absolute must-have to chart a bright path for your child's intellect, creativity and efficacy in the world. I cannot recommend this book highly enough!

Modern approach to teaching kids reading!
Audible is a very powerful medium. As a homeschool dad, finding an audiobook on teaching kids to read had me slightly skeptical. I am a believer now! Many of the same concepts my wife & I used to teach our children to read were present in this well organized training book. Listening to it was an excellent way to absorb some new stuff & take notes. I will say it clearly is a book for parents & teachers to learn the skills to teach their children, instead of an audiobook directly for the preschooler to listen to & follow along, picking up the skills to read themselves. (if that was not clear in the title or bullet points) As the author points out time & again, reading aloud is crucial in a home if the goal is literacy. Kids are always listening, even if you don’t think they understand. They also observe, so I would recommend a library of books in the home & reading those books yourself! This reinforced our family's approach to reading. The glossary was a nice touch, I also enjoyed the voice of the narrator. Great job on this one, pick this book up!

It is greatly-written
Helping your child become a confident and fluent reader is a very important part of being a parent. I was a little worried about this before, but this book has inspired and helped me a lot. It contains many hidden strategies to turn a child's natural behavior into a teachable moment. Also contains everything I need to know about teaching children letter sounds and the most common mistakes parents make when teaching children to read. The best way to become an enthusiastic, curious, and confident reader is to incorporate literacy skills into everyday life, and I feel confident in helping my child work through this important and meaningful stage of life.

Great book!
This book is extremely creative and informative!
Reading this has helped me feel hopeful that I am raising my daughter to be a confident reader. Although she enjoys reading, this book has helped make reading an exciting part of her day.
It taught me alot about the different stages of learning and the way children develop. What I loved the most was that it included activities and games, making it easy to teach my daughter to read while keeping her engaged and having fun.
This book is a must-have for anyone having a hard time getting their children to read or anyone who just wants to make reading more enjoyable.

Terrific reading resources
Loved it!
A valuable resource for parents who want to help their young children learn to read. As a parent myself, I found the book to be both informative and practical, with clear steps that can be easily implemented at home. It explains the important concepts of early literacy in a way that is accessible and easy to understand, and they provide concrete activities and strategies that parents can use to support their child's learning. It's got a friendly and approachable voice that feels like chatting with a knowledgeable friend. Plus, they provide examples of the activities in action, so you'll have a better idea of how to make them work for your family.

Incredibly Helpful Resource!
As a former teacher, I was incredibly interested in this book. It was a great refresher on learning techniques for kiddos, many of which I have utilized in some capacity in the past! I love how the author was able to break everything down in a way that makes it easier to implement at home. It's an uplifting book that provides a lot of encouragement for parents, along with awesome examples to see everything in action. Highly recommend.

You can do this too!
Teaching children to read doesn't have to be a mammoth task that makes even the strongest parent's legs wobble.
Not all children will need this as some love books, but for many I've personally delt with the information in this book is a gold mine!
I'm going to share this with many of my friends who have younger children starting to get to the age of reading many books. Let's drive this generation to be great readers! It will help them to excel not only in school, but also in life.
Great book!

Great education for parents on helping kids read!
"Teaching Your Child to Read" by Jayne Beacon is an excellent audiobook for parents who want to support their preschooler's reading development. The narrator does an excellent job of presenting the information in a clear and engaging manner, making it easy to follow along with the step-by-step guide. The book provides practical tips and activities that parents can use to help their child develop essential reading skills, and the troubleshooting section offers helpful suggestions for parents whose children may be struggling. The narrator does a great job with sounding out various consonants and singing little songs to teach kids when they are learning how to say their letters. Overall, I would highly recommend this audiobook to any parent looking to give their child a strong foundation in reading.
