Story
Maximo Strident, war veteran and member of local law enforcement, never wanted to enter the dungeon. With promises of wealth beyond his imagination, his squad mates managed to convince him. Max isn’t a Knight, so he has no magical equipment or spells that could help him against monsters. What he does have, however, are the sword forms he learnt at the Blade Academy. These forms are formidable martial arts that make him the match of Level 0 monsters. But Level 99 monsters? He doesn’t stand a chance.

Last I remember I was saving my high school crush from the path of an oncoming truck. Now I'm a skin-and-bones weakling wearing nothing but my hospital gown. Oh yeah, the world is also full of monsters, and I'm the only human left. It turns out a godlike System evacuated humanity but decided to leave the vegetable in the bed. I could crawl into a corner and wait to get eaten by a kobold, but after years of being asleep, I have a new appreciation for feeling alive. I'll have to find the tenacity to survive, the courage to fight, and the strength to face some dark truths about myself.

For more than 150 years I've served the Kingdom of Sena. Through four kings and a queen. Two wars and a rebellion. I've founded and taught at a magic school. I've fought against beast waves and dungeon breaks. But now? Now, the one close friend I had left has passed. So, I'm done with their politics and their economics. Just one semester until graduation, and I died saving a little girl. This wasn't the end, though, as a deity chose me to save another world. I woke up in the body of Kupiec Aiden, in a world where magic was real. Unfortunately, unlike many isekai novels I've read, I retained none of his memories, and had to learn everything. His family took me in, and I recovered from his sickness before learning about magic, or Aether as they called it.

Couldn't even finish it.
I was 10 hours in, the whole thing feeling like a chore when I decided I didn't need to listen to the last 4.
There's nothing offensive but also nothing really interesting either.
The character dynamics have some potential but never actually got anywhere.
The magic system has some depth to it, but nothing special.
Again, 10 hours in and no hint of anything but the grind for either the characters or the reader.

There's just so much to say about the book Elementary Mastery (Tempest). I just love how there's so many unique elements in the book and around not only the character's but the world itself. Also, Alex Perone just does an amazing job at narrating the story so well. Look forward to the next installment of Elementary Mastery. :)

I'd fallen in love with Zephyr's party and story!
In my mind the book starts out really rough. Like the narrator was unsure of himself or the writer wasn't very good, I couldn't tell which, but it made the book feel really clunky. Like one of those badly done high-school plays you had to sit through. But I girded my loins and soldiered on. I soon discovered that I didn't care about the production, as I had fallen in love with Zephyr and his two compatriots as they battled through dungeon after dungeon and as the action heated up, the narration became fluid and was actually very good!

great start to an awesome new series!
Good story and narration!
A young man raised by battle monks taught in the ways of weapon masters finds out that he's to attend and esteemed magic academy. Upon arrival at the bottom of the mountain to the academy he stumbles across a young man and young woman who were also told to go to the academy and finds that they have a mysterious connection. Together they will harness their power and fight the hordes of darkness...
Alex does fantastic job with the narration!
I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to find out what happens next in the series!
