Summary

Welcome to the Gun Show!

The top 10 list is populated. The sponsorship program is open. The difficulty is ramping up. The first three floors were nothing compared to what Carl and Donut now face.

The Iron Tangle. An impossibly complicated subway system built out of the world's subterranean railway systems, all combined and then tied together into a knot. Up is down. Down is up. Close is far. The cars are filled with monsters, the railway stations are less than safe, and the exit is always just a few stops away.

But there is hope. For the first time, the crawlers are all working together. The loot is better than ever. And the secret to unraveling it all may be hidden in the pages of a seemingly useless book.

Welcome, crawlers. Welcome to the fourth floor of the dungeon.

Such a great combination of story and reader

Another entertaining chapter in this series, brought to life by the talented Jeff Hays. Be sure to listen to the post-story bonus at the end for the greatest laughs.

Great but train conductor narrator is awful

Great continuation but honestly I really didn’t enjoy the train conductor narrator. A terrible amateurish performance. Awfully jarring compared to all other narration in the previous few books. Other than that great books as usual

The weakest of the first 3 but still great!

Another excellent entry into the series, I will say I didn't enjoy the train gimmick at all ,it was complicated and boring but the character work and last third of the book are worth the struggle to get there. If it kept on as it was until then it would be 3 stars. As it stands though it's definitely the weakest entry but I still love it and I'm looking forward to the next one.

Good moments bogged down by the setting

The talk about railway lines and station numbers made this one the most boring of the first three books. It did a good job on more world building by introducing antagonists from outside the dungeon.

Critical Drinker wasn't that enjoyable as a guest star and his performance was a bit amateurish compared to all the other voices.

setting of the next book seems way more interesting.

Guest voice was a mistake

Love everything about Carl's Crawl, but the addition of (I assume) an amateur guest voice in this one was a poor idea. Jeff Hays' narration and characterisation is spot on throughout, the addition of a flat performance by a guest voice was jarring.

A great addition to the series

Another great book in this series. For me, there's too much dungeon focus and not enough on what's happening outside. I'm also not a big fan of the floors theme (won't spoil here). But otherwise it's as good as ever with lovable characters who develop along with the story and great plot.
