About this listen
The story of a young girl's entrapment in gambling addiction. The true advert for problem gambling and how it controlled her every movement, her every thought and almost took her life. How the guilt and shame that go hand-in-hand with addiction stopped her from reaching out for help for eight years as she didn't feel it was okay for a young female to be a problem gambler. How she believed it was a male dominated problem, and how eventually, she did find the tools that enabled her to become free of her addiction.

It stopped me in my tracks…
I hadn’t gambled for 8 years, and then a few months ago my mum asked if I wanted to put a bet on the races online. With my £5 I got 100 free spins on the slots. That was it I was in again, hook line and sinker… few months later after losing my disposable income for the month gambling I searched - girl gambler help. My search terms returned this I downloaded it instantly… thank you Stacey for your honesty, sharing your truth and highlighting that we need to remove the stereotype that it’s only men who suffer, as much as they need the support it was so great to be able to listen to the book and completely relate. For anyone else struggling alone out there, you can beat this, you will beat it and remember you’re really not alone, search resources, listen to books like this. Since listening I’ve not gambled, I’m following the triangle and I’ve signed up to GameStop etc. Fantastic book - thank you!!!

Real life problems
As a gambler myself, I can relate to a lot she’s been through and it just goes to show how many people from all different walks of life it effects.

Fantastic but heartbreaking.
Fantastic book which I related to so much. Harrowing tale of gambling addiction with a real insight to the insidious nature of compulsive gambling. A real life story of one young ladies gambling addiction and how she was finally able to overcome it. Well done Stacey.

Heartbreaking but truly inspirational
As an ex gambling addict who has joined GamStop for the maximum 5 years I read this and this was just like reading about me. The same thoughts, the same reasoning and excuses. I started gambling as an escape through lockdown and it became a game of "if I could just win big then it will all be over" I did win big on a couple of occasions and at one point I had savings and bought myself my first car in 27 years, just a second hand one, and I had a bit of security but then a personal tragedy struck and one night in a drunken state I lost a large chunk then got myself into debt trying to win it back. Now I'm £25k in debt and working to pay those debts. I commend you for telling your story and for quashing the stigma around female gambling. I spoke to Stacey on Facebook a few weeks ago and she is the loveliest person. Love and light to you xx
