Summary

Keep your family safe.

Whatever the cost....

Jamie and Victoria are expecting their first baby.

With a few weeks to go, they head off for a final weekend break in a remote part of the North Pennines. The small and peaceful guesthouse is the ideal location to unwind together before becoming parents. Upon arrival, they are greeted by Barry and Fiona, the older couple who run the guesthouse. They cook them dinner and show them to their room before retreating to bed themselves.

The next morning, Jamie and Victoria wake to find the house deserted. Barry and Fiona are nowhere to be seen. All the doors are locked. Both their mobile phones and car keys have disappeared. Even though it's a few weeks early, Victoria knows the contractions are starting.

The baby is coming, and there's no way out.

Gripping story, great performances

Raced through this one. The narrators were brilliant and the twists were unexpected. Worth a listen.

Awful story

What a ridiculous idea for a story- totally unrealistic. What mother would allow her child to be taken away just after birth - totally unbelievable story. The voices of the owners of the guest house were really grating, which was difficult to listen to. I had to jump to the end as obviously there was a happy ending but getting there was completely unbelievable !

Not believable

Small minded, self centred, pathetic, characters in a slow moving story that is impossible to believe in. If I was the guy, I’d strangle her and top myself!

Enthralling, essential read

Loved, loved, loved (!) this book. I cared about the characters deeply and had chills all the way through-- a thriller with heart. The Guest House is fast-paced, full of twists and turns, and flips back and forth in time in a way that feels refreshing and new. An original premise and an even more original ending.

Great twists and narration

If I’m honest I have started searching by narrator instead of author as it makes such a difference to me… glad I found this one through joanne foggart and the story line was so unexpected kept me entertained.

Loved it!

I loved The Wreckage so had high hopes for this novel and it I wasn't disappointed. Had to ration myself so it wouldn't be over too quickly, but still finished it within 2 days because I couldn't stop listening 😁

Ready for the next now!!! 🤗
