From the creator of hit podcast Eat Sleep Work Repeat comes a revolutionary re-envisioning of how to enjoy your job.
In the course of a career that has taken him from some of the world's biggest media companies to Twitter, via Google and YouTube, Bruce Daisley has become fascinated by what makes great companies tick. And in his hugely popular podcast Eat Sleep Work Repeat, he has dug right into the DNA of work, talking to leading experts about how we can make our jobs more fulfilling, more productive – and much more enjoyable.
Now, in The Joy of Work, he shares the fruits of his discoveries in 30 succinct tips that range across all aspects of 21st-century office life and that combine inspiration, empirically tested insight and down-to-earth practical answers in equal measure. Are lunch breaks for wimps, or do they actually make us more productive? Is it true that you can improve team performance simply by moving the location of the kettle or coffee machine? Why are meetings so often a waste of time, and how can they be fixed? And what are Monk Mode Mornings and Hack Weeks, and why do people swear by them?
If you’re not happy with the status quo, if you want to find out how things could be done better, if you’re seeking greater fulfilment at work and a life that is less fraught, The Joy of Work will point the way.

Insightful and useful
What an outstanding book!
Bruce Daisley's passion for making everyone's working lives better (more enjoyable, more effective, more... relevant) is inspirational. It feels a little bit like he's handed us all a cheat sheet as he has basically done all the hard work for us, distilling down days, weeks, months (years?) worth of conversation and research into something that is easy to digest and easy to implement.

Usefil tips to love your job!
I came across Bruce Daisley on Emma Gannon's Ctrl Alt Delete podcast and was eager to hear more, so I purchased this is Audiobook. This was a great decision, as Bruce reads with both clarity and enthusiasm - I just wished I had pen and made some notes. We spend so much of our waking lives at work, we might as well in enjoy it. Bruce shows us not only how to enjoy what we do, but to love it!

Practical, accessible observations & advice
I found this book to be a very simple to follow accessible practical set of thought-provoking suggestions. Some were timely reminders, others were new news, but all were sensible and very doable.

Some helpful tips
Being a teacher for 25 years, there are some ideas in the book that just won’t work. Eg. Taking a proper lunch break. However, this shouldn’t put you off the ideas being useful and of substance. As a relatively new business owner with a small team, there are some interesting insights and transferable tips for employers to use in the workplace. Daisley reminds us that there are also some things you we can do as individuals to change the way we work, and to be happier and love what we do. Something we all aspire towards…
