Summary

The very best didn't get there by accident. The best have a different way of thinking and acting in their daily lives. And it's not enough to just to succeed - they also have an uncontrollable desire - the desire to get better. The good news for the rest of us is that success leaves tracks. Michael Heppell has spent his life studying successful people, attempting to distil what it is that the very best do that others don't. He's interviewed entrepreneurs, personalities and leaders from politics to education. He's studied the daily habits of the elite and during this time he's uncovered what they do that gives them 'The Edge'. By identifying and distilling this knowledge you'll discover how you can use this same insight. It's time to find your Edge.

A great all rounder with tips for life.

I really enjoyed the narration, and the author's obvious enthusiasm for the subject. Highly recommended...

Brilliant book

Where does The Edge: How the Best Get Better rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I have read many popular psychology books so this should have been more of the same but it wasn't and I loved it!

Great insights—a bit meandering and

There are great insights here. There is a fantastic consolidation of insights from peak performers.

But the lessons are a bit all over the place, and it slips into fuzzy, motivational speaker talk, high on frosting without empirical grounding.

“Edgers do X and always Y” is the style—but often it seems vacuous and seem to be a function of the author’s story telling.

That said, there is good stuff in here. You have to cut through the narrative a bit to get to the gems.

It’s a solid book nonetheless, and will be motivating for some. Those looking for something more rigorous may want to gravitate toward more precise, science based books, like Peak Performance or Stephen Kotler’s work.

This Edge is brilliant!

The Edge is a cracking audio book by Michael Heppell. It explores the leadership, values and mindset of professionals who have the edge.

Michael Heppell is both the author and narrator of the Edge. I think this makes the book excede expectations as the book came across as he intended and his passion was loud and clear.

I really enjoyed this audiobook and will seek out other titles by Michael Heppell in the near future.

Ten out of ten!
