Up to standard

A super book in every way, it was a little dated, as Peter May says in the foreword, it was one of his earlier books and has been resurrected, there were no mobile phones and a lot of smoking in today's forbidden places, however, this did not detract in any way from the quality of the writing.
The characters were likeable and believable, the story was excellent. All in all a super book brilliantly read by Peter Forbes.

Kept me mesmerised as usual

I cannot understand the criticisms of this book. Once again I couldn’t put it down until it was finished. Well read too, no doubts about who was speaking which is not always the case with readers.
Although the story is about a different time it does not feel old fashioned.

Another nail biting story from Peter May

It exceeded my expectations as the title made me wonder if I would like it. It was far better than I could have expected from such a brilliant author. Thank you.

Slow-burn but engaging

I enjoyed the story. Narration is very good too. Although set in 1970's, the story is not dated.

Another fantastic book from a very talented author

I am so happy this was not a disappointment. Every time I read a new Peter May book I'm worried I won't enjoy it as much as the last but it was gripping and the characters were a real treat to discover. I just wish it was on my wish list and not in my library and I could experience it all over again from the start.
