THE MILLION-COPY INTERNATIONAL BESTSELLER RETURNS WITH A DARK AND TERRIFYING JOURNEY INTO THE MIND OF A KILLER.
‘Truly exceptional…twists and turns that I didn't see coming, a unique concept, and brilliant characters…simply captivating.’ JOHN MARRS
________
He’s going to kill you. He just doesn’t know it yet.
Midnight Jones is an analyst trained to understand the human mind. But everything changes when, in the course of her work, she discovers Profile K’s file – because K stands for killer, and she knows that someone more dangerous than she could have ever imagined walks among them.
Midnight knows what Profile K is capable of before he even commits his first crime. But as the news rolls with the brutal murder of a local woman, no one believes what she tells them: that he is capable of so much worse.
Profile K will kill again – and, terrifyingly, Midnight realises that the moment she found his file was the moment she became his next target. Because Profile K is coming for Midnight – and the only way to escape with her life is to find him before he finds her…
The million-copy bestseller is back with a dark, terrifying journey into the mind of a psychopath that will keep you riveted until the very last page.

Futuristic serial killer drama
Some of this was very gory. It features everyone's most popular crime - young women being brutally murdered by a crazy serial killer. Aside from that cliché, there is an attempt at an original backstory featuring evil corporations, caring issues and a granny figure. It's ok. But not great.

so excited when I saw a new one by helen. the story line wasn't too bad. however it isn't her best. not in comparison to the walker and callanch series. loved the bod to Connie woolie and barda in this one. made it feel connected.

This book is special!
Wow this book is special - so, so good. I love the premise of the book which is totally original. Midnight Jones, a data analyst, comes across a Profile K whilst using her companies software for vetting job applicants, university candidates etc. Such a profile should not exist. When she tries to tell her bosses she is threatened with dismissal. Profile K is clearly a psycopath. Helen Fields is never shy when it comes to graphic, gory scenes and this book was no exception so probably not for the faint hearted! . The plot is intricate and intense, very creepy and totally gripping. Several times I felt myself holding my breath!
I loved Midnight who is sassy but also has a vulnerable side. I loved the bond she had with her sister, Dawn. I also have to give a special mention to Doris, a septuagenarian who Midnight meets in a cafe and is the sort of person I'd love to have as a friend! We also get to meet Dr Connie Woolwine very briefly.
I also found Helen Field's description of technology company, Necto, very scary in our increasingly tech-driven society. It may feel far fetched now, but in the future? Who knows?
The book is brilliantly narrated by Jess Nesling.
