About this listen

When is it time to let go of the things you hoped to achieve? Is it ever?

Lindy's ambitions have been hijacked by her son's career. He's 11.

Ailbhe 'has it all'. A husband, baby...and a colossal secret. Maybe that's why she's still self-sabotaging.

Roe's trying for a baby—a risky business when you're not sure you want to get pregnant.

For 30-somethings Lindy, Ailbhe and Roe, the move to the new hyper-polished, luxury housing development, Monteray Valley, feels like slow death by Netflix, neighbourhood Whatsapp groups and Saturday nights in. Potential for exciting possibilities seem to be withering faster than you can say 'postnatal dryness' as their lives are consumed by other halves, domestic drudgery and obligations. Compiling a snag list to send to their builder sees the new friends contemplating their own personal snag lists and inspires a business idea that will change the course of all their lives.

Narration difficult to listen to

The Irish accents adopted by the narrator were painful at times, I was disappointed as the narration on Sophie’s other books has been far better.
Story has plenty of feel good moments set against more serious topics. I found myself not wanting to press pause.

Great book, accents not so great

Such a good book, but hard in the beginning to remember who was who etc. as the accents didn't make it obvious. Got used to it, but some remained grating! Don't let it put you off the story though, thoroughly enjoyed it!

Nice story, terrible accents

It's a fun story! A little predictable, but fun and nicely written. But the narration is absolutely diabolical. It took around 2 hours of listening for the really, really bad Irish and American accents to stop grating on me.

Story is decent. Narrator not so much.

The narrators accents would actually put you off this book. The story is good though. a lighter read and made me Lol at some parts.

Story is solid but narrator lets it down

Narrator unfortunately not able to find distinct voices for each character-the men were far too similar.. I've never heard anyone with an accent like Ailbhes in real life - bizarrely nasal and grating, just terrible. A real pity as I think the characters were well written, just the delivery let them down.

Would have been great without the Dublin Accents.

Really enjoyed the story but found the narration difficult to listen to, particularly the shocking Dublin accents, of which there were quite a few varieties!
