About this listen

Soon to be an ITV drama starring Aidan Turner.

Joseph O'Loughlin appears to have the perfect life—a beautiful wife, a loving daughter and a successful career as a clinical psychologist. But nothing can be taken for granted. Even the most flawless existence is only a loose thread away from unravelling. All it takes is a murdered girl, a troubled young patient and the biggest lie of his life. Caught in a complex web of deceit and haunted by images of the slain girl, he embarks upon a search that will take him from London to Liverpool and into the darkest recesses of the human mind....

Characters were compelling, narration was first class and story had me hooked until the last twist in the tale. Wonderful. More please Mr Rowbotham!

Original storyline, well written and beautifully read. Kept me enthralled to the end. Did anyone else dislike Julianne?

Excellent plot

First foray into Robotham’s work was well worth it. Convoluted, intricate plot but easy to follow and very credible. Some procedural matters had mistakes ( time in detention can be extended by senior officer; caution is NOT and never has been ‘used in evidence against you’ but overall great and I’m straight into another!

Great story

I got a third of the way through this and realised I’d watched it on TV. Some of it is silly and detectives really aren’t as thick as they’re portrayed in this, but it was entertaining.
Robert Glenister is my favourite narrator so that’s what drew me to listen in the first please. He’s always top notch.

Excellent.

I had watched the series and this book, that it was taken from, was excellent. It showed that the series was a true representation of the book. Robert Glennister did a fantastic narration as usual.

Narration is lovely

An ultimately rather dislikeable protagonist and good complex plot but the whole thing is rescued by a wonderful narrator. Was considering the second in the series but it wouldn't work without the same narration.
