Story
In 1786 a fisherman's daughter from Cornwall called Mary Broad was sentenced to be hanged for theft. But her sentence was commuted, and she was transported to Australia, one of the first convicts to arrive there. How Mary escaped the harsh existence of the colony and found true love, and how she was captured and taken back to London in chains, only to be released after a trial where she was defended by no less than James Boswell, is one of the most gripping and moving stories of human endeavour (based on an amazing true story) you will ever listen to.

Summary
Penguin presents the audiobook edition of Trust Me by Lesley Pearse, read by Sally Scott.
She lost her parents and then was sent far, far away....
When their father tragically kills their mother, Dulcie and her sister are sent to an orphanage. Told that a 'better life' awaits them in another country, they are shipped off to Australia.
But the promises made to the sisters turn out to be lies.
And it seems to Dulcie that everyone who ever said 'trust me' somehow betrayed that trust. So when she meets Ross, another orphanage survivor, and finds he is a kindred spirit, hope swells in her heart.
But can she ever get over the past betrayals and learn to trust again? And can she fight not only for herself but also for her sister?

Do not pass this one by......
I love everything I’ve read by the author but this one is by far the best so far.
I listened to Trust Me on audible and could not stop listening, I had it on wireless buds all over the house and out walking the dogs!
Based on true events of British and Australian children being abused in Catholic run orphanages, this book is beautifully written and literally held my attention throughout. Highly recommended, very thought provoking and sad but excellent.

Expertly portrayed the victims of orphanages
This was an extremely interesting and distressing story to read. I had no idea of the severity experienced by these children. Although fiction based on true facts Lesley Pearse has brought their plight to many.
A must read for any caring person including the epilogue and post word.

Unputownable!!!
Whilst it was a difficult book to digest, as a lot of it resonated with me, I cannot thank the writer enough for telling the story.
Not only explaining the intracies of an abused child's psyce but also the nightmares & flash backs that follows you to what others perceive as a succesful adulthood.
Thank you for writing a beautiful book about a horrid "negative" subject. My heart goes out to all survivors of abuse.
