Summary

Medical student Amy Brenner is spending the night on a locked psychiatric ward.

Amy has been dreading her evening working on Ward D, the hospital’s inpatient mental health unit. There are very specific reasons why she never wanted to do this required overnight rotation. Reasons nobody can ever find out.

And as the hours tick by, Amy grows increasingly convinced something terrible is happening within these tightly secured walls. When patients and staff start to vanish without a trace, it becomes clear that everyone on the unit is in grave danger.

Amy’s worst nightmare was spending the night on Ward D.

And now she might never escape.

Great thriller

I really enjoyed this book. Some good twists! Would definitely read another book by this author.

Generally good

Quick read that kept me engaged. I've read most of Frieda"s books thus far and within this book I noticed less repetition of certain aspects of the story. I must commend her on this as this was one of my main issues with her writing style. The narrator was excellent, as always with this particular narrator. However, in terms of improvement I felt like it took quite a while for the story to feel like a thriller. There were twists as usual but not as shocking compared to some of her prior books.

Good story but didn't grip me

First read (or listen) from this author so didn't really know what to expect, it was a decent enough story, interesting characters & a good plot twist but I wasn't gripped. However, was also my 1st audio book experience so maybe that was a contributing factor.

Can’t wait to read more of Frieda’s books. Engaging and unpredictable.

Good story, just not her best

narration was a bit irritating, she sounded sickly sweet. was a decent enough story but predictable and definitely not her best.

Not my favourite of Friedas

Quite predictable and very unbelievable story. Narration not the best. Felt a bit whiney.
That said, still like this author's books, this is just not her best in my humble opinion.

Amazing as always

Another fantastic Freida story. Perhaps even my favourite. Amazing twisty turns story. Never fails to suck me in. Fab narration too. Would definitely recommend.

Not one of her best.

Lots of twists and turns to the story but I did not like the voice of Leslie howard reading it.
