Summary

In the delightful Cotswold village of Carsely, the air is heady with romance. Agatha Raisin is convinced that the new vet has taken a shine to her. But before she can get anywhere, handsome Dr Paul Bladen is accidentally killed while attending to Lord Pendlebury's horse. So was it really an accident? All the evidence points that way, but the circumstances are decidedly suspicious.

Light hearted and very enjoyable

Any additional comments?

Don't get distracted by Penelope Keith. This is a one off by Diana Bishop and she reads it very well.

Not sure on narrator

I listened to this book and the story line was good. But I was not impressed by the narrator or her miss pronouncing of James as Jane and she instead of he.
I miss Penelope Keith narrating this story. She was so good at making other voices for the characters. The narrator for this book made the book bland and lack character. Sticking to the Penalise Keith narrated ones now.

Very good

I was wary of this having read reviews about the narrator not being Penelope Keith and not being as good a performance as the first book which I stumbled upon during a audible deal and enjoyed. I bought it anyway as I thought that there is little point missing a book put. In short I don’t think there is anything wrong with the narration at all. It’s not Penelope Keith and at first I was thinking “the voices are not the same” but quickly I forgot that and found it as good as the first. The narrator is different but still a very good narrator. The stories aren’t full of adventure and are a gentle type of detective story. It’s not earth shattering stuff but a gentle easy listen to pass time. I enjoyed it.

A great whodunnit!

We really enjoyed listening. Almost hated when the ironing came to an end, or we arrived at our destination.
A twist in the tale and believable story line making us smile and Good humoured.
Well read. Most enjoyable. Can’t wait to start another Agatha book,

All good except...

..... There was something wrong with the recording. The volume dipped up and down and also quite often the ends of words would be lost. Very odd.
Otherwise the story was as captivating as expected and the narrator good; I was disappointed at first that it wasn't Penelope Keith but Diana Bishop turned out to be just as good.

Another great story by M C. Beaton

Agatha Raisin is as always.... good. So is Penelope Keith reading the story. I cannot imagine anyone else doing the dialogue. Agatha reminds me at times of myself.
