Summary

The comic fantasy adventures of Gabe Skelter continue as the former Earthling loser fights his way to gory glory in an RPG made all too real.

Not all that long ago, Gabe Skelter was an unimpressive, overweight, snarky teenager with more mouth than muscle and more attitude than attributes. Then, during a deadly trainwreck, he was transported to another reality. On the world of Regaia, Gabe is a different person entirely: a massively jacked-up warrior orc known as Loon. The dud has become a stud.

But even in his new buff bod and with his growing collection of skills, Gabe still finds himself in a near-constant fight for survival against a wide variety of horrific creatures. Luckily, he's gathered a small but loyal band of fighters to cover his broad back. And he's going to need them . . .

Because the powers that brought Gabe to Regaia have their own plans for him and his former classmates who "died" in the trainwreck—now known as sojourners. Plans that could have drastic consequences not only for Gabe's loved ones but for all Regaia. Plans that will almost certainly get them all killed.

Packed with furious combat, nerd-tastic detail, and hilarious wit,

Big Sneaky Barbarian 2 is a must-listen for fans of high-octane action and nonstop smart-ass fun.

The second volume of the hit LitRPG adventure series—with more than 100,000 views on Royal Road—now available on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, and Audible!

Includes a special note from the author.

“Wow . . . you didn’t even ask me for a blurb. Well, you can just go screw yourself, Mr. Seth.”—Matt Dinniman, bass player (also, I guess, author of Dungeon Crawler Carl)

One quest of fun

I liked a lot about this book, the prose the interactions and MY GOD the performance.

But.

This book covers a single quest. A lot happens during it but at the same time not much. The character doesn't even level ONCE until the very end. Most of the book appears to take place during a single night, and it's runtime is longer than a real night.

Also the characters stopping to banter during danger or a very time-sensitive event, for the sake of banter feels bad. Unless there is something nefarious going on, I couldn't get invested since nobody else in the stoey seemed to be either (at least until the intense drama moments) . If Loon stops to have a half an hour long bit of a chin-wag whilst his friends are in mortal danger and could die at any moment, why should I care? He obviously doesn't.

The first book is SO good, but the direction of the 2nd one has me concerned.

Please don't eschew plot, progress and feelings of danger for the sake of witty dialogue and jokes. That would just marvel-fy your work, and we all know how well recieved Thor: Love and Thunder was.

Overall I would recommend this because Johnathan is straight up the best narrator in the business, but the next installment will need to course correct a bit to win me back, so that I can stick with the series.
