another fresh and constant from Jacka

after having read all the books in the series before this one it took me nearly 8 months to eventually buy this book because of a twist I didn't want to happen with the main character. I kick myself as jacka masterfully enthralled and weaves his magic throughout the pages to deliver another superb story I only wish I hadn't waited so long. after this review I'm going to buy the next in the series.

a few changes jarr but overall good

the story was as ever brilliant.... only a few logical leaps. a few changes to the way some characters spoke was weird - mainly morden who sounds too close to a sterotypical businessman rather than the way gildert originally portrayed him. beyond that all very good!

Good creation of a world

The undemocratic council is getting pretty ludicrous in what is supposedly law and therefore acceptable.

Wow, If you listened to all the books you won't be disappointed!

You won't be able to put this down. I listened over 2 days and just when you think you've got it sussed, you realise you've been misdirected. My only niggle is Arachne's voice has changed slightly but that's me being pedantic. The plot is very well thought out and it's fantastic to see how each detail has been tightly woven.

You are left literally craving for more!

fabulous new installment with a few irritations

As usual I was on the edge of my seat with Alex's latest tale. Gildart Jackson has been a stellar narrator but I've a few niggles - bad enough to change Helicowan's accent in a previous book (both he and Landis originally sounded like Sean Connery) but he was a minor character. why did Morden's have to change though? Something also up with Arachne's voice. It's become more sinister and slightly lower and also more mechanical rather than her usual clipped enunciation. I know it sounds minor but Gildart's made these people alive to me! it's disconcerting.

Good baddies & bad goodies

Jacka must be doing something right as with each new book I vow to take my time and read/listen slowly but then I always end up doing a weekend binge!

Plus points: Morden has a bigger role; time is passing and everyone's allowed to be a bit more grownup; darker (altho there is a moment at the end that is pure Scooby Doo); Good and Bad are blending to grey.
Meh points: Arachne's voice has developed a harsh Chinese accent; Rachel is still an undeveloped character; must there always be pages and pages of a big gun battle? Yawn.

great book

I really like everything about this audiobook. I've listened to all the previous books, and this one was just as catching. Narrator's voice and habbot of speaking transmitted the mood and situation very well.
