About this listen
This compilation contains episodes 4 - 6: THICK AS THIEVES, LAST TRAIN TO LONDON and THE CURSE OF MABB'S FARM.
Here Jack and Sarah get caught up in a mysterious treasure hunt. They tease out the truth behind the town puppeteer's death, and they're threatened by the ancient curse of a local farm.
Cherringham is a serial novel à la Charles Dickens, with a new mystery thriller released each month. Set in the sleepy English village of Cherringham, the detective series brings together an unlikely sleuthing duo: English web designer Sarah and American ex-cop Jack. Thrilling and deadly - but with a spot of tea - it's like Rosamunde Pilcher meets Inspector Barnaby. Each of the self-contained episodes is a quick read for the morning commute, while waiting for the doctor, or when curling up with a hot cuppa.
For fans of Agatha Christie's "Miss Marple series", Lilian Jackson Braun's "The Cat Who series", Caroline Graham's "Midsomer Murders", and the American TV series "Murder She Wrote", starring Angela Lansbury.
Co-authors Neil Richards (based in the UK) and Matthew Costello (based in the US), have been writing together since the mid 90's, creating content and working on projects for the BBC, Disney Channel, Sony, ABC, Eidos, and Nintendo to name but a few. Their transatlantic collaboration has underpinned scores of TV drama scripts, computer games, radio shows, and - most recently - the successful crime fiction series Cherringham.
The narrator of the audiobook, Neil Dudgeon, has been in many British television programmes including the roles of "DCI John Barnaby" in "Midsomer Murders" and "Jim Riley" in "The Life of Riley".©2016 Bastei Lübbe (P)2016 Lübbe Audio

Well-written comfort reading
If you like uncomplicated murder mysteries solved by characters that grow on you with each short story, garnished with a bit of white humour, this series is for you. I am perfectly content with the plots not being the most original I've ever read, and I really appreciate the fact that they are properly written by what seems like experienced writers. These days a well-crafted paragraph, a balanced description of the right length or a scene free of continuity errors are not to be easily dismissed.
I do agree, however, with other listeners who complained about how the narrator's voice fluctuates in volume; I listened to these stories mostly during long drives and at certain points I could barely hear him even with the car's speakers at top volume.

Good cosy listening
Really enjoying this crime series. It is not gruesome and short stories make it good to listen to on long car journeys. Good narration too.

What a Discovery
My second Cherringham compilation, stories just the right length to be interesting without having to bring in sub-plots. Neil Dudgeon's voice is soothing, he brings the characters to life. No graphic details of either sex or violence - just enough to get the picture.

Relaxing enjoyable listen
Enjoyable evening listen. Very relaxing narration but with enough content and humour to enjoy the story and the relationships between the characters.

Good stories
These stories were good. Enjoyed Jack and Sarahs latest adventures. Only criticism is that the sound was not as good. Even on loudest setting on my phone I found it difficult to hear at times.
