About this listen

They say when the demons come, you either fight or you die.

The Black Dogs know this all too well. For 300 years, the warrior priests have sacrificed their lives to keep the island nation of Abios safe from the flesh-eating Nostros, while the rest of the world fell under the demons' savagery. However, an armada now stands poised to invade mankind's last bastion.

Child thief Jack Frey is saved from the gallows and joins the mysterious order. Trained with the bullet and the blade, Jack finds himself on the front line of a centuries-old war.

Across the Angel Sea, Lin is fighting for her life. As a slave of the Nostros, she knows death can strike at any time, either at the hands of her masters or her fellow humans.

Little do they know mankind's fate lies in both their hands.

The world building is very good.

Not my usual genre but this caught my attention. The story is unique with decent and interesting characters with seriously nasty vampires.
The narration was first class and I can’t wait for the sequel, well done.

One of my favourite listions so far

Here is a book written by a great author who got me hooked from the first chapter, the characters are fantastic, you really get to understand many of them, Jack the main character is the young rising star of the Black dogs a religious army that protect the land from the Nostra, the vampires that take young children and use some to feed on some to be slaves and some to turn to its dark army, I really enjoyed this book especially with the great narration of Simon Vance who is my favourite audible reader, A great new take on Vampires, if in doubt just get this and enjoy a great tale, then Liston to the second part that is just as good in every way, Brilliant book
