Strangely annoying characters

The reader keeps getting better book by book (or I am just getting more and more used to him) and his voices for the side characters are engaging.
The story is good. The magic world described become more and more claustrophobic which is at the same time well done and a little distressing

Another good story

This was another good story but has similar problems to the last. Alex becomes artificially isloated from help and female villains are treated very differently to men. Still good but not great.

Chapter Nine

If you’ve got to this book, you are both addicted and excited by Alex’s development. When you get to chapter 9, learn even more about him. And this is where you decide how much you actually like him...

Lots are covered in this book (lots of fun in jokes - Babylon 5 and The Pink Panther)! This is a deep story and I must say that I did get tired of Ann. However, these stories are getting better with each episode. Worth pressing through on...

like where it's going - but starting to get samey

love the story and the characters but there are some annoyances creeping in. Repeat explanations of Alex's processes and the politics; some obvious reveals and repeating names when the pronoun would do really jar when listening to an audio book.

Narration is good - but accents are poor and getting poorer :(

Series starts off as good and ends up great.

I've done a couple of reviews for books in this series recently and have said nearly everything there is to say without giving away spoilers. The plot was great, the narration keeps improving and I was pulled in from start to finish. Despite the fact that the main hero is male, there are several really strong and varied females in the cast, which makes this an equally good listen regardless if you are male or female. This review is really just to confirm that it keeps getting better and there isn't a weak or filler book in it so far. I ended up listening to the books back to back, despite the fact that I've other purchases I should be listening to first. The next book is due in August and I will definitely be pre-ordering this if it come to Audible UK.

You do need to listen in order as while each book has it's own story there are new characters introduced and an overarching plot. Since Audible now has the lot but hasn't series linked them yet, this is: Fated, Cursed, Taken, Chosen and Hidden.

My favourite of the series !

I absolutely loved this book ! for me, the other 4 had been building the story and this gave some of the answers you have wondered; about Richard and Alex's background. I don't want to give any spoilers so I wont say much more, but it felt like a Chapter in Alex life was coming to an end - but another door is opening and we have a long way to go, more of Alex,.... and his friends ! - don't want to say too much much about who and spoil it ! I hope in the next one we learn a bit more about Arexxia and Luna, *not sure of the spelling of Spiders name* Love this series !! All of the books are great, what are you waiting for, get listening !

Excellent as always!

Splendid story, developing a much-needed arc, only previously hinted at, or skated over, as those stories sped along.

The best series I have come across in some time, and as I’ve said, it’s begging for a Netflix adaptation!

Now on to the next one - lead on, Gildart, me old son, lead on!

Five out of five stars (more, if only they allowed it!) ;)
