If I Never READ you

Sadly, the narration wasn't great. you could hear where she was placing the punctuation in the wrong places and rather than re-recording those bits, they just soldiered on.
aside from that though, it's a great feel good book, it moves at a decent pace and is a great change if scenery if you've done a lot of heavy reading.
I didn't know I needed this book in my life until it was gifted to me from a friend for my birthday and if I'd never read it, I think I'd have actually burnt my love of reading out, as I'd read a lot of heavier books just before this and one more might have tipped me over the edge!
Great connection with the characters and totally unputdownable

Nice Listen

I enjoy Mhairi McFarlane books. This was a nice listen even if it was slightly predictable. Was a nice break from listening to crime.

Boring but good to spend time

I listened to it while walking to work. I managed to finish in few walks because I had nothing else to do while walking. Several times I lost focus and dragged into my own thoughts. It is somehow good to just spend time. Story is not extra ordinary, quite predictable. I wish narrator is not screaming in my ear sometimes.

Loved this book from Starr to finish.

I loved this book, it was so well written and I could almost imagine myself there in Manchester and Lincoln with them.

Liked it enough

Little slow to start, felt like it was unnecessary to stretch it out that long before anything else happened. liked the character Laurie just at time the narrator made her sound a bit naive and young. Jamie was a little bit cliche in the sense that he seemed the typical ‘misunderstood’ person but without any real drama or excitement although his character was likeable. Overall decent enough story to listen to whilst doing household chores.

I loved this book

I really loved this book. It took a while to get going but was worth it to get invested in the characters. the second half was brilliant and I didn't want it to end.

Gobsmacked

I just had to leave a review.
I Really loved this story, I always skip the romance books they do not appeal to me EVER, I am so pleased that I got this book though, the plot was excellent with twists and turns that I hadn't seen coming.
It made me laugh and something that only a few books have ever managed to achieve is to make my eyes leak.
I also rarely bother to write a review even though I have given them 5 stars but I really felt this one deserved the effort from me.
In fact I enjoyed it soo much that I think I will chance another Romance although I am not expecting it to be as good.
But watch this space!! Lol

Great listen!

This is the first book I've listened to in a while where I've been hooked in from the first chapter. The main characters storyline aligned so much with my own, from the Uni in Liverpool, to living in Chorlton and the references from places I've seen and visited so that was super pleasing to me and helped me set scenes perfectly. I did however think the very end was a little rushed and the very last bit - no spoilers- wasn't necessary for me personally but I see what the author was trying to do. Really nice easy listening. Listened for 5 hours straight and got my marathon badge 💪🏾

Good but not as good as others

I think it was the narrator (Sara Novak) not putting enough emphasis and feeling into certain sections but I didn’t find this book as good as Mhari MacFarlane’s other books.

The narration makes all the difference and there were pauses and slips throughout that were not correct and the voice she gave Laurie didn’t have enough warmth to it when coming to those emotional and difficult conversations.

I also thought the ending of the book was quite sad in that the decision to get married is taken so very lightly.

I hope the next one I read/listen to is better.
