Summary

What do you have when you blend a pinch of LitRPG, a touch of farming simulator, a sprinkle of epic fantasy, a whole cup of Isekai, and a dash of Home Alone? You have Arnold’s life.

Accidentally murdered by a cleric in another universe during a botched resurrection, Arnold, a semi-pro gamer, wakes upon an altar to find himself incarnated into the overweight body of a farmer who could have been his fatter twin. He’s not the hero. He’s not the villain. He’s certainly not the chosen one who is there to save the world. He’s a clerical error.

It could be a bad joke, but apparently, it happens so often that they have a standard procedure for returning you. That standard procedure doesn't apply to Arnold.

Now stuck on a new Earth, in a new universe, with no way home, Arnold must use his gaming skills to figure out how to level his farmer class to 100 and gain a second class which doesn't make him want to beat his head against the wall. There is just one small problem: Farmers don't gain experience from killing monsters. Like at all.

Follow Arnold on his hilarious journey as he stubbornly comes to grips with his new reality and tries to change his destiny from that of your typical farmer.

If you're on the fence! JUST DO IT!!!!

This book in my opinion is a gem! The gem of 2021!

It has everything you could ever want in a LITRPG. It's funny (not ha ha funny but roll off your seat full belly laugh funny) it's got a great plot. It has an interesting MC and a great companion.

I can't wait for book 2!

Really great story

I really enjoyed this book and only regret that now I'll have to wait a while for the next one. Funny and clever.

Just wow! Awesome

I definitely didn't expect that amazing story. the silly name and image put me off buying. but a read some of the reviews and decided to give it a chance.

What an amazing listen! Great pacing, Good characters with individual personality's, hilarious situations that don't take away from the story.

as someone else but in their review that convinced me to buy... An absolute gem of 2021

I NEED book 2!

Sorry to say this one was a rare DNF

I wanted to like this, it seemed an interesting angle on the litRPG genre but after eight hours of listening I just can’t face anymore; the MC is unlikeable (I almost gave up in the first chapter when he hits a child) and lacks emotional depth - there is one brief attempt to show he has feelings but it is very brief, and unsuccessful. The plot is slow and doesn't seem to really be going anywhere and in light of there being a sequel I suspect there will be no real resolution to the story. Things may improve later on in the tale but I feel that eight hours is more than enough to give it a fair try and it hasn't impressed. Travis Baldree does excellent voice work, though the protagonist’s drawl started to grate on me. There is some great gamelit out there but this isn’t it. Try Dungeon Crawler Carl instead.

Oh, Great! A farmer who hates farming

I didn't think I would like it, and I was proven wrong.
Came because of Travis Baldree, stayed because of the story.
This book was a lot of fun.

Great twist on a fun concept

Honestly can't recommend this enough for any litRPG fan - aside from being entertaining, it managed to keep me gripped throughout the entire runtime. Will definitely be back for the sequel!

Did I listen to the same book as everyone else?

I got this book because I wanted a good laugh, and one of the reviews said it was rolling off your seat funny.

Maybe it's my sense of humour? But not once did anything get more than a gentle nose exhale. Some of it was actual torture and cringe.

It was just barely engaging enough for me to listen to the end, but at 18 hours I wish I hadn't bothered. There seemed to be whole plotlines that vanish, some reappear without reason, others not at all. Maybe I missed something, but a chunk of the premise never made sense to me - even in the weird ruleset of the universe. I'm not sure whether to go into spoiler-y details though.

The narrator gave it the best possible polish, but the story was very disappointing, given the hype from the reviews I read.

Entertaining at times, but mostly frustrating

The narrator does a superb job as always.

As for the story the premise is new and interesting but flawed in execution. The cliffhanger at the end ruins it, and the climax just peters out.

Most of the progression that the MC gains/receives feels as it is never used. As a self proclaimed pro-gamer in almost a year and a half he cannot grasp the concept that he needs to learn this world's rules to achieve his goals. His constant childis approach to this topic is grating, and while he comes to a logical conclusion that is quite obvious it is far too late in the story.

Excellent book and creative idea

The story is different from the usual litrpg and a most enjoyable experience. There is humour, action, some fantastic world building and the pace is good.

The narrator is wonderful.

I can't wait for the next book.

Long and tedious.

I had hoped it was as the description promised, but it ended up being a long and tedious listen with a lot of politics, missing his family, playing guitar and acting stupid for a character describing himself as intelligent.
And at no point in the book did I laugh, smile or have fun, but I made to the end, which is a victory in itself.
