Summary

Who says a troll can’t be the hero?

Chad Johnson built his following by being a troll. Online games, social media, you name it—he's there with a witty comeback. But when he goes too far during a televised stream, he's handed a punishment unlike any other.

Instead of the usual ban or suspension, Chad's sentenced to 30 days of full immersion therapy in Isle of Mythos—a world of epic fantasy filled with dungeons and mythical creatures. The twist? He's forced to embody a forest troll, one of the most despised races in Mythos.

At least the punishment fits the crime.

Now, Chad's on a quest, slaying monsters and aiding his troll tribe. It's different, but not necessarily in a bad way, especially with a mischievous little imp as his sidekick. For the first time in his life, Chad's found something more than just trolling—he's found purpose.

Rehabilitation? Call it what you want, but Chad's all in. Who knows? Maybe this troll is a hero.

“If you mess with the bull, you get the horns!”

Steven was my first experience of LitRPG and the Troll books will forever be a firm favourite of mine… especially so when you get 3 books in 1!
A brilliant story with amazing characters, mixed with excellent skill progression that just gets you hooked!
Absolutely love it and I can’t wait for the next in the series!
I won this book as part of a competition, but had already listened to the first 2 stories as well as other books by Steven too.
Oh and let’s not forget the great narration. Perfect pacing, tons of atmosphere and brilliant character voices that are clearly differentiated!
More please!!!

Great effort

The story is good, but the writer is a bit stupid.. don't say the MC is a vet gamer and not understand the most basic rpg open world game machines. How is he never aware of his surroundings. The MC is always getting hit by some creature (big creature as you describe them) unawares. He also forgets to use the one ranged ability he has when it counts. Absolutely the most infuriating MC you will ever come across during battles, so dumb 🤦🏽.

Great Fun

I thoroughly enjoyed this collection. After finishing the third book I immediately purchased books 4 and 5 and made a start on 4.

As a lover of MMORPG’s this really resonated with me.

Mediocre young adult/kids story

This was a pretty standard story aimed at the younger end of the market. The protagonist is meant to follow a redemption arc but from the start they are exceptionally nice, his best friend even says "Not everyone has to like you". Impossible to reconcile with someone being sentenced to prison for vicious trolling.

The other characters were pretty decent. Nothing too complex and there was no love interest for any of the characters (again, good for young kids).

The setting was fine, standard sort of fantasy land. Felt the series got weaker as they transitioned to marauding through various realms.

I think we are meant to sympathise with the excessively rich child with neglectful parents but that's quite hard too. So I wasn't hugely attached to the characters as they lumbered through the very, very weak story. After leaving the trolls almost nothing happens and huge chunks could be cut out to little effect.

Overall I wouldn't recommend this but some young teens might like it. The narration was good.

fun litrpg adventure

Good fun adventure, nice play on usual litrpg, narrator works with MC and grows as the books continue, 3 books for 1 credit is definitely worth it.

Enjoyable LitRPG

This was a well paced, entertaining and easy listen. The main characters are likeable, and the backstories of the different races made the world feel real. I will be checking out the next book because I am missing Limmery!

Good story, good pace, good performance

Really enjoyed this. The story builds nicely and kept me interested. Enough twists to make me want to hear the next chapter. Limery was little annoying at first but the little guy grew on me!

Good first book is not enough

First book is set up good. Second book is ... nothing. Travel without purpose, fight. I just lost interest.
