Summary

Early and social interaction skills are essential for every child to get the best start in life. Skills like language, eye contact, and self-regulation are just some of the things your child needs in order to excel - personally and academically!

Since the pandemic, both parents and teachers are becoming more concerned about children’s abilities to interact. On top of that, there are delays in referrals to specialists.

According to the Education Endowment Fountain, in September 2020, 20-25 percent of children starting school needed help with language skills compared with the previous year.

Are you worried that your child isn’t showing the typical social interaction skills for their age? Are you waiting for a referral and frustrated there isn’t more you can do? Is your child receiving speech and language therapy, but do you want to do more for them?

In Speech Therapy for Toddlers you will discover:

  • One hundred and thirty-seventh games and activities that require everyday objects you have at home - or just your time
  • How 5 minutes of your time can make the world of difference to your little one
  • Eight age-appropriate checklists to know that your child is on the right track
  • Amazing insights into leading authorities and the latest research in the field of early and social interactions
  • How to help children improve their speech and language development with targeted speech sound books
  • Recipes to create with your little one - from biscuits to face paint
  • How other parents in your shoes have overcome what seemed the impossible with simple solutions
  • Fifteen social stories that you can adapt to help your child, from going to the dentist to making friends - plus a free comic strip conversation to inspire you
  • The importance of all family members learning about their emotions and talking about them to reduce meltdowns
  • A bonus section dedicated to helping children over 5. With one audiobook, you can support your child from birth to 10 years old.

As early interaction is so important, you are probably thinking that you don’t have the qualifications to make a difference. This is not true! You know your child better than anyone else and with the knowledge and experience in this audiobook, you are more than qualified.

Speech Therapy made easy

I work with OT's and aba therapists and this book has been a superb guide for all of us to help us understand the workings of a Speech therapist who we often collaborate with. From professionals that work with kiddos that are in therapy, this book is an excellent resource for parents/carers/teachers that have children struggling with speech. The games are interactive and well explained. This is a book I will be coming back to often.

Great Resource

This book is practical and interactive at the same time. What more than games to educate kids on realistic abilities that will benefit them in the long run? Nice work by the author to highlight language development skills and stories to help with conveying the educative message.

Excellent resource for parents

This is a well-written book by a speech and language therapist whose experience shines through. She understands the fear that parents go through when they discover their child is not articulating like their peers. She gently reminds parents that milestones are just a guideline. This audiobook includes fun and practical activities you can do with your child to make a difference. It’s helpful that the information is broken down by specific age group. I especially enjoyed the section with social stories – stories to help children of all ages prepare for situations that they have little to no experience of. This is a very comprehensive guide. Highly recommend.

Golden resource!

I found this valuable as I have a child that needs help with speech. Very practical, effective, and fun advice with activities to help your child. Developing speech and social interaction effectively is key to every child's future. This shows you that you only need a few minutes a day to work on it together with your little one. The narrator and instructions are very clear, making the information easy to listen to and understand. Highly recommended to anyone with young children/relatives to develop early communication!
