Summary

Well, it could be better.

Jim and his literal shoulder demon have survived, so far, by the skin of their teeth.

After finding a long-abandoned starter village, Jim has begun the process of rebuilding his town. Unfortunately for our favorite adventurer, the threats he now faces are far more complicated than mere monsters. The poor Noob has to deal with angry townsfolk, trade negotiations, and a talking badger.

With goblins and bandits also sniffing around, will Noobtown - I mean Windfall - survive?

far superior than the first

BEWARE: Do not listen in public because it is hilarious! I spat out my drink with laughter because of a particular scene. Overall this book is a great continuation and the character shows great self progression and with his bonded familiar. This is a hidden gem. A must read for all

A worthy sequel

In many cases the second book is not quite a good as the first, often as it is no longer ‘new’. I found this book as enjoyable as the first, plus it was a continuation of a book I had enjoyed.
Once again the narrator is clear and has a good range of accents to help differentiate the characters.
Spoilers:
Jim has a village and it’s people, but the village is it runs and he has no resources and more importantly the money running out. To combat this, he attacks and takes over the nearby mine, this means he has iron, iron he can trade, so off he goes to the nearby city.. fracking pumas mean it’s not a easy journey. Once there in order to organise a trading route he is tasked with clearing out another forest with more pumas, this time the human kind. Surviving, he gets back to his village ready to take on the human pumas, but finds his home under siege - the goblins are back!

Not so good

Previous one was better.
Lack of deeper emotional connections.
Way to much game mechanics speech.

Excellent second instalment, no mention of...

... The high ground. So was thinking four stars. But there were two mentions of the high ground in the first book. So five stars.

On a semi serious note. Just relax and enjoy an idiot MC and a very relatable war badger do their thing. Would recommend a decent Cote du Rhone and dim lighting to bring the world to life.
