Summary

The new Death in Paradise mystery

Two dead bodies. A family of suspects. One grumpy detective.

Reluctantly stationed on the sweltering Caribbean island of Saint-Marie, Detective Inspector Richard Poole dreams of cold winds, drizzly rain and a pint in his local pub.

Just as he is feeling as fed up as can be, a mysterious vagrant is found dead in the grounds of the historic Beaumont plantation. Immediately assumed to be suicide, DI Poole is not so convinced and is determined to prove otherwise. Never mind that the only fingerprints on the murder weapon belong to the victim. Or that the room was locked from the inside.

Before long, death knocks twice and a second body turns up. The hunt is on to solve the case - despite the best efforts of the enigmatic Beaumont family....

Just read it, don't act it

I love Death in Paradise, I've read the books but the reader ruined this book for me. The accents are unnecessary, especially Camille.

How Does He Do It?

How Does Robert Thorogood write such gripping books? The way he writes is so interesting and always keeps you hanging on every word. If you like to watch Death In Paradise you will certainly love these books are even if you just like reading crime books I would highly recommend this series. I was unsure at first about the narrator but it didn't take me a minute to change my mind. He did a grate job with all the accents.

Richard Poole is doing the business

Richard is brought to life by Phil Fox brilliantly, I loved the blend of a stuffy English DI on a tropical island supported by Camille, Dwayne and Fidel.

Superb

Love the series and was unsure whether an audio book could do it justice: I’m happy to say I was wrong. Loved it. Can’t wait to start the next one.

There’s a reason why this series was a popular TV programme

I love the way that the characters were developed around the plots. Mysteries to be solved by by a man who is in an environment that is completely alien to him. I think that this lead character was by far the most interesting of those which followed as TV scripts. His idiosyncrasies and vulnerabilities draw the reader to him, while making them smile, and relate to him. These books have just the right amount of comedy sprinkled within the pages of mystery.

Great to here Richard Poole back in action!

Can’t help smiling at how well Phil Fox narrates, bringing Death In Paradise to life and particularly the peculiar but brilliant Inspector Poole, so English in his funny thoughts and actions. Just brilliant
