Summary
Sable just wants an escape from the corner of the world she's trapped in, but what lies outside is far more dangerous…
Sable would do anything to break free from the ruthless gang boss she's indebted to before he corrupts her younger sister or discovers Sable's magical ability to sense the truth in people's words.
In a last desperate attempt at freedom, Sable stumbles into unexpected help—Atticus, the famous playwright, and his traveling theater troupe. Far more than a means of escape, the mismatched band of actors is destined to become the family Sable never knew she wanted. They help awaken her magic until she becomes the burning symbol of truth that the entire land needs.
As war looms and corruption eats away at the halls of power, Sable's ability to sense—and share—the truth may be the only thing that can save them all.
The Keeper Origins is a complete epic fantasy trilogy with rich characters and a delightfully optimistic flavor that stays just on the right side of epic with all the cozy feels. It includes all three books:
Dragon's Reach— Sable's rise from a trapped, indebted thief to an actress with words strong enough to change a city.
Raven's Ruin—Embroiled in the politics and scheming of the priories, Sable finds herself drawn to the rebels who fight against them.
Phoenix Rising—With war on the doorstep, Sable and the troupe struggle to keep the foreign Empire from conquering and the corruption in the priories from destroying them from within.

Epic Fantasy Trilogy
I started by reading Keeper Chronicles Trilogy which I thoroughly enjoyed. This made me seek out more by the author. I was surprised and delighted to find this even longer trilogy.
I am so glad I did, J A Andrew’s continues to develop as an author with a great storyline, original, unpredictable and great character development.
Top tier narration by the always excellent Kate Reading.
No hesitation recommending this trilogy which is terrific value.

Made me cry, made me laugh
A fantastic story narrated superbly!
I absolutely loved it. Not predictable and amazing scene setting. Also loved the book excerpts at the beginning of the sections.
Well worth a listen.

Too long
I loved the first book, the story and characters (hence the 4 rating). And Kate Reading is a good narrator. I started to struggle with the second book that I felt was dragging on a bit. Now I'm in book 3 with still 18 hours to go and I don't think I can finish it. This constant warm/cold thing when people talk and the same types of responses from the characters are starting to wear thin after 55 hours or so. I loved the Keeper Chronicles series by the same author, but this series is not working for me.

"Raising an eyebrow" at Kate Reading's delivery
Dear J A Andrews : Stop with the raising an eyebrow! Hardly anyone can actually raise one eyebrow. Apart from that I loved the book, rarely for me it grew on me more and more rather than lost me. I loved Kate Reading in Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight saga, and found this book by searching for things she has read. I know that she has both a US and a UK background, so is able to do both accents very well, What grated on me (thus 4 stars) was her insistence on using British Received Pronounciation (perceived as highly educated and "upper class") for almost all of the characters. Things are changing in UK for sure, but still - a Prioress is definitely not going to have the same "posh" accent as an uneducated worker/common soldier. It sounds very strange. Also, this is a book by an American author and therefore consistently uses American grammar. This is very different to UK grammar eg US "go speak to" v UK "go and speak to" etc. To use a BRP accent in that context is even more grating and strange to me. She did vary to a northern accent when relevant after a shaky start (phew!) later on the book. Overall, she'd have done better reading the entire series with a US accent, it would have been far more appropriate. Slightly disappointed with such a talented reader's delivery choices.
