About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

The audiobook of The Wee Free Men is narrated by Indira Varma (Game of Thrones; Luther; This Way Up). BAFTA and Golden Globe award-winning actor Bill Nighy (Love Actually; Pirates of the Caribbean; Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) reads the footnotes and Steven Cree (Outlander; A Discovery of Witches) voices the Nac Mac Feegles. Featuring a new theme tune composed by James Hannigan.

Tiffany wants to be a witch when she grows up.

A proper one, with a pointy hat. And flying, she's always dreamed of flying (though it's cold up there, you have to wear really thick pants, two layers).

But she's worried Tiffany isn't a very 'witchy' name. And a witch has always protected Tiffany's land, to stop the nightmares getting through.

Now the nightmares have taken her brother, and it's up to her to get him back.

With a horde of unruly fairies at her disposal, Tiffany is not alone. And she is the twentieth granddaughter of her Granny Aching: shepherdess extraordinaire, and protector of the land.

Tiffany Aching. Now there's a rather good name for a witch.

The Wee Free Men is the first book in the Tiffany Aching series, but you can listen to the Discworld novels in any order.

The first book in the Discworld series - The Colour of Magic - was published in 1983. Some elements of the Discworld universe may reflect this.

Love the Nac Mac Feegle

Format: audiobook
Narrator: Indira Varma, Bill Nighy + Steven Cree + Peter Serafinowicz

The Nac Mac feegles are practically indestructible and Tiffany Aching is their ‘hag’ even if she’s only 9, so when Tiffany’s brother is kidnapped by the Queen of the elves and Tiffany goes to find him the feegles are right there with her.
Another fantastic story from the discworld.

The narration was absolutely amazing, an all star cast that suited the book perfectly.

Lovely production of a great story

Indira Varma did a great job reading this, and the Feegle voices are just a cherry on top. Of course, this is essentially a book for children, but it introduces new things to the Discworld lore that you can't skip over! Must read!

One of TP's best

Frankly, I think this is one of MrPratchett's best. I'm a big fan of the Tiffany Aching books anyway - apparently the ones which took the smallest amount of external editing - but this one is a gem.

The Miss Tick chapter is a masterpiece of writing. I've listened to this several times and it comes close to being word perfect. Quite brilliant.
