Good plot - poor production

The plot was intreaguing and interwoven in the masterful way that Gillian McAllister does best. Not as exciting as Wrong Place Wrong Time, but definitely a great book which I would reccomeded. However, as with the other reviews, what really let's this down is terrible editing. Did no one at Penguin bother to listen to this before release? Numerous repeats where the editing was pooy executed. I've never come across this before and will hopefully be remedied swiftly so as not to tarnish the book with a worse review than it deserves.

Enjoyed the story, let down by narration.

Gillian McAllister is a must buy author for me so I waited with anticipation for this. I normally buy her physical books but as I had an audible credit I pre-ordered. I thought my phone was glitching, but reading other reviews it would seem others had the same issue. I also felt that the narration for Lewis was really difficult to hear, he spoke much faster and quieter than the narrators for Julia and Emma so I was constantly adjusting the speed and volume or flicking back as I missed something.
I enjoyed the story, not quite as much as I enjoyed Wrong Place, Wrong Time or How to Disappear but still a great story with the usual twists and moral dilemmas I have come to expect.

Stunning

Loved it. Audibly gasped at different times and just found it compelling. Gillian McCallister is a master of her craft. Always ties everything up so neatly. Best book I’ve read in a while. Might have liked it even more than Wrong Time, Wrong Place and that was amazing.

As others have have said really poor production

Interesting story but poor production, repeated lines and sound jumping around. One of the female narrators very breathy and constant swallowing sounds which was also distracting .Shame as I really intriguing plot.

felt like a puzzle I had to solve

I read and listen to sooooo many books but this one was truly different as there was breadcrumbs throughout the plot that kept me guessing right up to the end. A very clever author who I can't wait to read/listen to more from

Bizarre production

Does anyone bother listening to this? The production was so poor - loads of repeated sentences. I had to keep checking my phone wasn’t glitching. Not great production.

First 60% was tortoise slow in terms of plot and then everything was wrapped up in the last half an hour. Not up to her usual great standard.

Entertaining listen

I enjoyed this book, even if the plot seemed a bit far-fetched. Gillian McAllister is a very talented writer who knows how to construct entertaining novels. I listened to this over a few days and wanted to know where the story was going.

I did, however, find the repetition of the name Julia quite irksome. She was also a bit one-dimensional and not as memorable as some of the author’s other protagonists have been.

The narration was fine but it was unfortunate that there were a few editorial errors which had not been picked up.

Amazing twist you don’t see coming!

I love Gillian McCallister’s books and had been waiting for this to be released and it didn’t disappoint. Joanne Froggatt was the ideal person to read the key role and honestly don’t see why this wouldn’t end up being a TV drama series. What a story. I wish I could re-listen not knowing the end.
